Wow, I am definitely off the grid at this point. I am in a Boston Hostel. Not sure what to say about it. There’s a billion very unique people. One kid is playing the piano. He is actually very good. He has no sheet music. I am truly impressed by his ability. There are lots of Asians. Parking is costing me $10 / night and the hostel is $35 so it’s not real cheap to say the least. I am thinking about walking to Fenway. It’s a little sensory overload at the moment. Man you see all kinds here. A lady to my left is eating some soup in a styrofoam cup and a banana. Not going to gain weight eating that. The guy has stopped playing the piano I think to rest his hands. My bedroom has 3 bunk beds and they are all being used. There was one Asian kid sleeping in the bed when I walked in the room. I didn’t even see him. I kind of startled him and he startled me. It’s amazing virtually no one outside the hostel knows about them. I guess I didn’t either until a year ago. Well I think I am
Good Beer!
This microbrewery is just outside of Fenway. Good Beer! going to walk around for awhile and see what Boston has to offer. You can get claustrophobic in here pretty quickly.

Spent the day around Boston area. Spent about an hour trying to find parking at MIT. Asked one guy who looked like a professor for directions, and he said he was from south St. Louis. Small world. Took a few pictures there then went up the road to Harvard. Rode my bike everywhere. I was lost all day. The City is so hard to get around. I think part of the problem is that it was laid out for horse and buggy in the 1600’s. Also a big problem is there are no street signs. A local said the larger streets don’t have signs, because everyone knows those streets. Makes since to me. Not!
From there I parked my truck near the Hostel and rode my bike to Fenway to shoot some photos. From there went down the street called Commonwealth. Very cool street as they have a large green area between the one way streets and in the green area they have a large sidewalk, which have statutes periodically. Very pretty. Went through Boston Commons
Blueberry Beer
Note the blueberry garnishment. Blueberries are good for you, therefore blueberry beer must be as well. I might become the healthiest person ever! and the Public Garden, which has some awesome trees and I suspect in the Summer very cool annuals. Boston is a very pretty City.
I got back on the Freedom Trail on my bike and pretty much saw all the sights. At a pier I saw a sailing school and a bunch of boats. I asked if they have been sailing. He said they have races tomorrow. I asked if they need crew and he said sure be there at 11:00. I told him I would need to get going before then. I would enjoy it, but will also be glad to get out of Boston, because of the confusion of driving around here. Also looking forward to seeing Emily and Jason as well as getting out of this Hostel. There are people all over the place . I have an Aussie in the room with me now. He said he sold all his possessions and will be traveling for 3 years. He is 1 ½ months into it and started in the southern most part of South America in Chile and plans to get to Alaska a northern most point. He was complaining about the cost in Boston.
Boston Common
Pretty cool park! He said he has been allotting $40/day and Boston is killing his budget. He said he will be meeting friends in 7 more days and is looking for something to do for the next 12 days. The Aussie’s I have talked to love to travel and don’t really care about money. Another kid in the room said he was from Korea. He said he didn’t sleep hardly at all last night because of the kid snoring. I asked him if he knew for sure who was snoring as there were two people that sounded like they were snoring. He said it was this other kid and made the comment, just look at him as if his oversize stature implied he snored. Everyone is really nice around here though I wouldn’t say any of them are your “All American Boy or Girl.” After the Freedom Trail I decided to go to Harpoon Brewery and get some supper. After several direction asking sessions I made it to Harpoon Brewery only to discover, they do not serve food only beer sampling. I had a couple samples and headed out. Again I worked my way through Boston asking questions and getting lossed. There are
MIT
Some goon in front of MIT. I had asked a professor for a marquee location to take this pic. After talking to the professor I discovered he is from Kirkwood, MO. Small world! no direct roads anywhere and half the places do not have street signs. After getting back to the Hostel and getting cleaned up I decided to head for my watering hole Beer Works at Fenway. Ordered me a burger and a blueberry beer. I like those beers a lot.
