Yesterday we grabbed the hop on hop off bus to go back to Harvard and MIT to visit their museums. What a mess. Boston had a Columbus Day parade yesterday and the entire bus schedule and stops were messed up. We had to walk about a mile farther to catch the first bus. When we got there the bus sat there for almost an hour before moving. When we got to our stop near Harvard, it had been 2 hours. We went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History. It was pretty nice. By the time we got back to the bus stop and waited for the next bus it was too late to make the MIT museum, which probably would have been pretty hi tech.
We stopped at a pub on the way back to the hotel and had a couple of brews.
This morning we decided to go to Copley Square. There are 3 churches near there and also an old section of the city with a lot of period shops and antique shops. As we were walking near Boston Commons we noticed that they were having a 1/2 marathon for women's health. We watched as thousands of women passed by.
We visited the Trinity church, Old North Church and a Covenant church. They were all built in the mid to late 1800's. We also visited the Christian Science Church. Huge church. The organ has 13,295 pipes. They had a concert today and we got to hear it.
Tomorrow we leave Boston for Cape Cod. We have one night in Provincetown and we drive to the western side of Mass. to the Berkshires.

People could write a prayer for the victims of the bombing and hang them on this fence. Later they will be taken down and some of them will be woven into a quilt for the first anniversary.

This is the old part of the building, built in 1896. It sat about 300. The addition has the large organ and seats about 3500.
