On Sunday night I travelled back to Baltimore by bus. As my dear friend Abena put it, I had my first Greyhound experience. For a 4 hours bus ride it felt rather short! I was sceptical how good the ride would be given the threats made by the bus driver to throw anyone off the bus if he heard any beeping pagers or cell phones.... Ahh, the hospitality of America. Why back to Baltimore? I'm struggling to find an answer myself.... the main reason was for more shopping and more time spent with my uncle & Abena. I was able to catch a small glimpse of Inner Harbour although it was at night, and a Monday for that matter. What I did see was nice - art deco. We had desert at a restaurant called "The ... read more

Today I met up with my good friend Abena who used to live in NZ. I’ve been promising this girl for 4 years that I will come and visit her “next year” since she moved over! Finally “next year” turned into next week, then tomorrow, and now today! She took me into her campus - John Hopkins Uni. We had lunch and this Indian restaurant. My goodness the food was good!! We hung out with her friend in her beautiful apartment. It has these insane little back door & mesh on the window, looking like a prison. When you go inside you find they're two level homes (although 2 bedrooms) with gorgeous interior. I was really inspired by the african decor in the home. Dinner was spent at my aunty’s place. That was great - meeting ... read more

Yay I arrived in America safe and sound! The flights were smooth - except for the one tense moment where turbulence forced the cabin crew to stop giving out dinner and rush off to their seats! My welcome in US has been interesting so far. I've haven't really done anything tourist-ish yet. The humdrum of life has been interesting enough so far! One thing I've noticed is the amount of apartment buildings all through the city and suburbs. Reminds me of a campus - they all look like dorms! There really is a stark difference between the "up-down" and the "down town". My highlight so far has been the Nigerian restaurant we visited this afternoon. It has a nice ambience. Real nice & homely.... read more

Welcome to my blog! For those who don't know what a blog is it is an online journal that you can write whatever you want in, just like a journal that you keep at home except that blogs are (usually) public. My blog is a travel blog so I will tell you mostly details of my trip. I'm still in the USA but I've posted some pictures from a trip I took to india 5 years ago. I've been looking at them myself and getting excited to return.... read more

Our first stop on our east coast trip was in Baltimore and to the DC area. We were only in the area for a couple of days but we did take in a Orioles game and see some of the typical Washington DC sites. Before going to the Orioles game we stoped by the ESPN Zone and I do have to say that anyone who is a sports fan should eat in an ESPN Zone at some point . . . great food and a very fun atmosphere! The Orioles game was fun and I think that Camden yards was one of our favorite ballparks to visit. Obviously it did not have the history of Yankee Stadium or Fenway Park. But for what it lacks in history it makes up for in comfort. A truly great ... read more
