I hear Phil stopped by at 7:30 to congratulate me but I was still sleeping. I did not get out of my bag until 10:30. I had the keen-to for 2 nights so I had it in my head I could take a day in the park to revive and refresh. As I took a moment and considered this option I could feel the hard work of the day before. I had hiked to the point of muscle failure and now I fell stiff. I have been down this road a time or two and I know that the next 3 days will suck to be me. Baxter State Park at 7:30 meaning I was asked to leave my sleeping bag at 4:30... I had forgotten that 4:30 comes 2 times a day and this one kind of sucked but I was also so ready to get this show on the road. We stopped in Millonecket the largest town on the way to Baxter. I was instructed to purchase 2 extra ramon noodles and some pop tarts. For $125 Phil picked me up in Bangor, put me up for one night, imparted as much wisdom he could (he has through hiked the AT 3 times), and carted my ass to Baxter State Park and had me at the gate at 7:00 AM when they opened. Made 54 Hours on the Bus to Bangor. I can't say that air travel is better only faster and God willing I have more time than money. Phil from 100 Mile Wilderness Outfitters picked me up and brought me to his cabin in Springer. No running water, and a fancy out house with cushioned toilet seat that makes a very distinct bodily function noise appropriate for the visit. The cabin has 2 big porches on the east and west sides with rustic looking chairs comfortable for watching the sun beginning or ending it's daily journey. The well is finished except for the pump, so no showers. The upstairs loft is missing railing but has 2 spaces that I imagine sleeping or storage.
