Our next stop was Patterson Louisiana to visit Dr. Walt and Governor Pam. Not only are they a charming couple and a delight to know but they live in a house that was built in 1850 that sports the distinction of being the place where the last Confederate Force surrendered after the Civil War ended.
This place was full of history which I enjoy. It is built to face the old Spanish Trail. Imagine the original owners sitting on the broad porch of the house watching settlers, traders and explorers moving down the trail towards the Spanish New World Empire.
In the back of the house is a great porch where you can sit and watch the bayou water traffic.
The house is furnished with not original but period furniture. Linda and I slep in a bed of the 1850's!!! Dr. Walt has made great efforts to preserve the historical image and presentation of the house.
Gov. Pam is not only a great host, cook, painter and organizer but also was a very effective Governor during Rotary International's Centental year, 2005.
Thank you Gov. Pam and Dr. Walt for an exciting stay in your home.
