Today we went for a ride around New Orleans and SuperDome then crossed Lake Pontchartrain to Mandeville. Went to Rip's on the Lake - - don't bother. We got seated so close to other tables that you could not move without hitting the table next to ours, the waiter said he would be right with us, 15 to 20 minutes later we walked out after others who had been seated after us orders were taken. It was really surprising to me how difficult it was to find a seafood restaurant in Mandeville, La. We finally ate at New Orleans Seafood and Burgers in Mandeville. It was pretty good food and service was good. We returned to the RV Park and took our typical walki around the RV park.... read more

Family gathering with 20+ people at Pat's sister Gwen & Larry's house, and a good time was had by all. 5 out of 6 Sullivan siblings attended: Pat, Gwen, Pam (& Jim), Darlene (& Tony), and Darrell. Sadly Robert couldn't make it, so another 25 years may pass until they're all in the same room together! Three of Pat's nieces and one nephew were there: Holly (& Bob & his 2 boys) drove in from Lake Charles, Vanessa (& Felix & Isabella) from Lafitte, April (and the delightful young Jacob) from Covington, and Chris (& dogs!) from New Orleans. Heading north tomorrow, for another large family gathering near Raleigh, Mississippi... ... read more

Debbie, Bobby and their neighbours, Melinda and Lauren, rented a cabin in Fontainebleau State Park for the New Year’s weekend. Melinda and Lauren have two children, Thomas is 12 and Grace is 8. Thomas was away hunting with his uncle for the weekend. We had a wonderful weekend. Bobby barbecued steaks on New Year’s Eve and Lauren fried fish on New Year’s Day. Needless to say the food was delicious and I even got a “to go" plate!! Jacob stayed in the motor home with me both nights and Ben stayed for one night. Ellie and Grace were having too much fun, and I’m sure were happy to have a break from the boys. The cabins were spectacular, fully equipped and located in the most perfect spot. I just had to add the weekend to my ... read more

I left Albuquerque with Texas on my mind. I stopped over in Weatherford to visit with Janet and Garth Tayler but unfortunately, Garth had to go out of town so I missed him but had a pleasant visit and supper with Janet. On to Austin. Beverley and Casey live in Austin, Texas so I made reservations in a very nice park there for five days. I hadn’t seen Bev since I was in California in April so we had a bit of catching up to do; they had not met Ike yet. We had a really nice visit; Casey did some great BBQ for us. I plan to go back during Bat Season so they can take me onto the river in one of their kayaks! I stopped over in Bellville to visit the doctor and ... read more

Happy Mardi Gras from Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA! We started out Friday after picking our grandson up from school and were on the interstate by 3:10, which is well ahead of the normal east bound traffic out of Baton Rouge on a Friday afternoon. We arrived at the Fontainebleau gates just before 5:00 and got our RV set up and hooked up well before dark. Our campsite was not my first choice but unfortunately, by the time we realized we could take a 4 day weekend, this was the only spot left to reserve. So we took it. Actually after surveying some of the other sites, ours wasn't the worst. It is in the old part of the park and there is a much newer campground area where we usually camp. Since we'd decided ... read more
