Okay, a little late with this post but whatcha gonna do?
Headed down to Indianapolis at the beginning of August to catch the Drive-By Truckers/Black Crowes show, the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard Nascar race and, oh yeah, visit my sister and brother-in-law! Haha, I suppose not necessarily in that order...
Weekend got off on the wrong foot with both my first and connecting flight departing late (the airline shall remain nameless, however it does rhyme with Bontinental...). This translated in me arriving late to the show, only to sit down and see one dang song of the 'Truckers, not impressed to say the least...good thing we had primo seating and the beer vendors were close at hand...
Spent the next day with friends of my sister...they certainly run in some pretty fancy shmancy circles...included everything from boating on the reservoir to a fully catered pre-Nascar party with valet parking and fireworks...many beers were had...
Sunday brought race day so the three of us headed to the Brickyard. For those of you who haven't experienced a live racing event, I strongly suggest you see one someday. It is an unbelievable experience; the noise, the speed, the people!
Three Stooges
Not a bad lookin' bunch! Hanging out in the sun drinking beer with three hundred and fifty thousand people is quite a hang...and to experience the whole Nascar subculture is worth the price of admission alone!
I've decided to call it the Lost Weekend as it felt like I was fired out of a cannon only to land back at the airport three days later. Both Rog and I were happy to see me go, don't think our livers will ever be the same...
