Tractor + trailer + Hay == lots of satisfied kids.
Today, we did much of nothing. We were so exhausted by the trip so far, that we just needed a day of pure rest. We did a lot of camp things (mini-golf, a lot of swimming, hay ride, flashlight candy search, laundry.)

We have decided to extend our trip one day and drop through Colorado to visit friends and relatives, so Tony spent a few hours re-planning and making/cancelling reservations.

The KOA here in Union, IL is pretty nice. 100% of the sites are full, and it does not feel crowded. Other than the wild west theme park next door, complete with it's roller coaster and occasional shootouts, plus live (bad) music... the park is pretty quiet. Michelle took up with a group of girls and has been running all over the campsite. We enjoyed a fire tonight with the company of a couple from Wisconsin. I commend their resolve, as they are camping with a 6 year old and a ONE MONTH old baby.

We had a pretty neat thunderstorm roll in about 4am. Tony jumped out and put stuff away and closed up the car/trailer. Then we rocked and rolled with lightning that was within a

mile!!! It continued to rain on and off until about 11, so we ate breakfast and then watched Avatar in the trailer. Excellent downtime morning!

Our keys were left in the car ignition today (intentionally passive voice) and our battery was dead. We have jumper cables, but Tony is testing out our solar battery charger to see how well it works. After about an hour of near-dusk charging, we were able to unlock the doors and open the back hatch. We'll try 5-6 hours tomorrow and see how it goes. (If you have the equipment, you should make sure you know how well it works in case you really need it sometime).

Tomorrow is another day of rest. Maybe we will go out to dinner...maybe not. Then we will start on our westward journey. Michelle has been waiting for us to start heading home for several days now.

A staple of just about every day... but we only just now managed to snap a picture.

Look daddy, it's the whomping willow.

Michelle likes to go make friends whenever she can.
