Looking for cheap and easy travel to Chicago. How about cheap or even free transportation once you are in the city?

Getting to Chicago is a lot less expensive when you take the train. Amtrak will take you to Union Station, in the heart of Chicago. Or you can take the South Shore from North Central and North Western Indiana to the city, starting with South Bend.

Once you are in the city, you can ride the L to most of the city's neighborhoods, there are 8 different train lines. The rates are $2.25 each trip, or $5.75 for an all day pass, which is most likely your best bargain.

The city also offers a free trolley to many of the city's most popular destinations, like Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue.

And of course, you won't want to forget one of Chicago's best kept secrets, the pedway, which is free.
