We left Coram on Tuesday morning, where the temperature was 38 degrees, and drove south along Flathead Lake. I had found an interesting first stop at the Kerr Dam overlook in Polson at the end of the lake. Well, we never found either the overlook or the dam and Bill was not happy about making a fruitless 40 minute detour... My next stop was to be the National Bison Range. The GPS had it listed so we were certain to find it. However, the GPS had it marked incorrectly, and we were just about ready to give up, when it came into sight! I was very happy to avoid another useless quest... It had gotten much warmer by midday, with the temperature nearing 90 degrees! Just a quick blog right now to say we are OK - terrible internet access at the Inn of America motel in Lewiston last night, and arrived late, so just having coffee at Ronnie's this morning so can write. More to come later. On our way to Missoula Montana this morning and will assess whether we ride this afternoon or stay put and chill once we're there. KEEP THE COMMENTS COMING. Checking for comments has become part of our daily ritual and we LOVE hearing from you, it keeps us connected to home. So talk to us! No limit! Love, Helli and Ian... read more

After a very long hiatus, I am back and ready to blog again about my travels. I haven't been able to keep up with my blog as my other writing and employment have monopolized most of my time. In the end, when I did have free time, I had to chose between spending time with my family or blogging...........you can see from the absent blogs that I still have my priorities straight. I am now writing as my full time career (a dream come true) and hope to have not just my blog available for you to read, but travel articles as well. Don't forget I also still have two eBooks available for purchase in my eBook store and hope to have at least one of them on the Kindle by the end of the summer. ... read more

Me again, graduate student from Lansing, but I am currently in Lewiston, Idaho at the house of the parentals. I can't believe that it is almost 2011. Where did 2010 go? It has been interesting year for me with my academic life, my personal life, and my own well-being. I've moved three times, worked three different jobs, got one degree and started another, and have learned a lot from my relationships. But life has been treating me well. On Thanksgiving, I got invited to a lab-mates house and had fun sharing a meal with future forensic scientists. I returned home and then went to the Wonderland in Lights the next day at the zoo. It was nice to just be outside and walk around for an hour or so, reading about the animals and seeing all ... read more

I guess all the kids and dogs were already in bed last night when we arrived because there was no evidence they were right next door until I heard them screaming and barking at 7:00 am this morning !! I was not very happy to say the least. We didn't have to get up until 9:00 am today and we were both looking so forward to sleeping in and getting that little bit of extra rest. Oh well, I had no choice but to get up because I couldn't sleep through it but Tim did eventually fall back asleep and got a little more shut eye before time to get up and get ready for our big adventure today. I used the extra time this morning to clean up around the house some including cleaning out ... read more

I know that I haven't been traveling very far away from home here lately, but I am trying to get to know my hometown. Besides most of the people that read this blog don't live where I do and some of you might be interested in learning about the mysterious Idaho. Well a writer can always hope, right? I live in the town of Lewiston, which is just across the river from the Washington town of Clarkston. Names sound familiar? They should, the two towns are named after the explorers Lewis and Clark, who travelled through our valley on the way to the Pacific Ocean. This area is rich in early US history, Old West Stories and Native American Tradition. So you never really know what blog I may come up with next for this area. ... read more

I was taking pictures of some of my pins and buttons the other day to show one of my readers and I thought I would show them off on my blog. This is a collection from the last 6 years of pins from Disneyland, as I buy one for every trip that we take. There is only one year that I didn't get around to buying one and that was our one Christmas visit that we made in 2007. There are some others on the lanyard from the Jungle Book movie release, Disney Vacations and Disney Movie Club VIP pins. You will see that the current lanyard is full and I will be starting on my second lanyard this December for our next trip to Disneyland. The other lanyard that I have on my wall is ... read more

Since I finally just acquired these pictures from Christmas, I had to share them all with you too. My beautiful family and friends - Idaho 2009. See the previous entry for more details but we got together with my Momma's friend Ladonna and her kids that we all grew up with - Tony, Brandy, Linda, and Danielle. And Mom, Mandi, and I took pictures with them. Then my Japanese friend came to see me!! And some family shots near Christmas. It was a great Christmas break, even though I have become as pale as a ghost. hehe!! And on a side note: A small message for the recent passing of Pat Rush, the beloved math teacher at Kendrick High School who has been fighting leukemia. Rest In Peace, Mrs. Rush! You will be missed!!
