Another Evening on Moana Terrace North America » United States » Hawaii » Oahu By alohajaneMarch 25th 2007Pineapple Princess Tonight was another evening with the Pineapple Princess on the Moana Terrace, sipping those tall, blue, delicious and invigorating Blue Hawaii drinks complete with pineapple slice and orchid, classier than those little umbrellas. Kelly was our server yet again, third time in three visits. She is so attentive and friendly. We enjoyed finding out about her and her island. The Pineapple Princess unexpectedly met another of her ilk, Miss Hawai... read more

Hi again, desperately trying to get this up to date before we arrive home in 2 days time! Am in LA at the moment having spent 3 days doing theme parks - do I feel like writing this - no I don't, but feel I ought to just to make you feel jealous! So from Hawaii (The Big Island) we flew (on Tuesday) to Kauai (The Garden Isle), it is also the oldest and no longer has an active volcano - phew! Although flying time is less than 1 hour it took us nearly all day, by the time we left for the airport, checked in, went through security about 27 times and changed planes. We were all very excited as the place we had booked to stay was 'our bit of luxury' for the trip. ... read more

The Folk Life Festival in Kapiolani Park North America » United States » Hawaii » Oahu By alohajaneMarch 24th 2007Pineapple Princess Today was all about music and hula in Kapiolani Park. How glorious to sit on park benches in the shade of 2 giant umbrella trees with the bright warm sun all around, listen to wonderful hawaiian slack key music and watch the graceful hula dancers tell their story! The craft displays were awesome too and so different. We spent some time watching the children learn hula. They were using flat stones to keep the rhythmn. We talked to a u... read more

We prayed for peace on Sunday at the beautiful St. Andrew's Cathedral. We joined Brian & Lowell for a beautiful service at this beautiful cathedral. Everyone was so welcoming. Visitors are greeted in traditional Hawaiian fashion with the presentation of a lei (seashell). Brian was our guide in a very informative tour of the Church and showed us how the building of the Church was intertwined in the history of Hawaii's Monarchy. Snapshots of this history are represented in the wonderful stained glass windows as can be seen in the photos. ... read more

Today we toured the Island on a big tour bus! Cousin James, our bus driver and tour guide, was awesome. He was so helpful, funny, sometimes even corny, very informative (historically & otherwise), and passionate about his Hawaiian roots. He transformed a bus load of strangers into a Hawaiian Family looking out for each other. We loved his commentaries and sound advice!! Highlights: Pali lookout, North Shore Beaches, great diversity of vesgetation from one side of the island to the other, fresh shrimp ponds, Dole Pineapple Plantation, Macadamia Farm (yummy samples), Coffee Fields, the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles at Laniaeka Beach and the beautiful Polynesian Cultural Centre. ... read more
