DAY 24 - Waikiki Shore

After three weeks of fairly steady travel and sightseeing it was great just to sit on the beach.

First up there was the early morning dip in the 26 degree waters of Waikiki. We found a nice little spot where most of the the underwater rocks had been cleared.

A small sample of US military might was on show not far away as five jet fighters took off an early morning patrol. Fast and furious!

At about 11 we locked in our banana lounge and umbrella for a few hours on the beach proper with some snorkelling thrown in. Some nice long fish were feeding on the seabed and were fun to chase.

The Vertigan Mitchell clan arrived early afternoon heralding another swim and throw of an American football.

Beautiful large sea turtles emerged for a feed on the the seaweed near the pier in front of our building. Magnificent beasts. It would be good if they came out of their shell though.

Pre dinner drink on the balcony at sunset was perfect. Then pizza at flour and barley in Waikiki. Almost the pizza of the trip. Nearly a good as Tony’s in San Fran. Almost.

On the way home we watched a street performance. Volunteers were required. Uncle Ben was seconded. Classic footage of his contribution is available on request.
