After hearing the golden words "welcome home" from immigration, we grabbed our packs and headed for Waikiki. We love Hawaii and this was a very special trip for us - back to the US! Aside from being the grand finale to our long voyage around the Pacific, Pat's mother and grandparents also met us there to celebrate our homecoming. We also had some of our best friends from back home in town vacationing with their family. The only thing better than spending time in paradise is enjoying it with your family and friends. Of course we toured all the major sights, AZ memorial, North Shore, Dole Plantation, Diamondhead, Kona Brew Co. (for Uncle Dan of course), but by far the greatest highlight was snorkeling with Mor Mor and Debi in Hanauma Bay. The six foot eel swimming around our feet wasn't too shabby either! It took more than a few tropical itches (best pool-side drink ever) to ease us back into America but we finally adjusted. Sitting by the pool and playing in the ocean helped too. : )
