Well, turns out it takes a decent hike, swim, or boat trip to reach the monument. But at least we saw this cool lava rock beach! And the drive down was exciting too!

Our first black sand beach experience! We watched so many turtles feasting in the shallow waters, but we didn't feel up to battling the waves to join them.

Our free tour was a satisfying as one can hope for the cost, but the view and the taste of $68 per pound coffee certainly made the time worthwhile!
