We are definitely in the south. Albany is the Pecan Capital of Georgia. Unfortunately, this is the spring so no fresh pecans or peanuts are available - the processing plants are all closed. We saw several cotton gin facilities as well but nothing operating at this time. Albany is a typical South Georgia town. Ray Charles is from here. Thomasville dates back to the 1880's according to the many fine homes which we saw. We did a walking tour around the historical city core. We were invited in to see an old inn which was being refurbished into 8 condos. The square footage of each condo is about 1500-1600 with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, granite, heat pumps and 12-16 foot ceilingss. Price - $250-300 thousand. The weather continues to be great with the temperature in the low 80's in the mid-afternoon. We ate at a great little restaurant. Tomorrow we head for Savannah for a couple of days before we begin our trip down to Pensecola.
