I finally found the camper I want to keep, a Forest River R-pod. I sold the others. The R-pod 171 has no slideouts. One end has a queen bed, the other has the dinette that can be made into a bed. In-between in the galley and a bathroom. Below are some stats. I still belong to the national women's camping group. As this winter settles in, some of the group are already getting cabin fever and are out camping. Some are doing true winter camping in freezing weather, others are down in Florida, e.g., Key West. Having just moved this year, I'm not ready to hit the road yet. I'm busy with new friends, a new book club, a new birthday group. etc. Happy travels to everyone who is out and about! ... read more

Hi All! One of the things I try to promote the most and value the most in terms of travel is the knowledge that new perspectives and new experiences allow. It is so so important to open yourself up to this, the benefits are incalcuable. That is what I admire most in the work of these two documentary film makers. Hope is what drives their films, and they emphasize the opportunity we all have to learn from one another. "A Place in the World", a documentary about the children of Interntional Community School in Decater, Georgia is freshly finished and many eager eyes await its screening. The film spotlights how these refugee children are able to come from their various political and war torn backgrounds and demonstrate the humanity of which we are all capable. This ... read more

Hallihallo! In Drawing und in Race and Rebellion in New South bin ich gleich drin gewesen. Liliane vom OIE hat ... read more

Hallihallo! Jetzt kommen die versprochenen News from America!

In twelve hours I will be on a plane headed for Buenos Aires where I will arrive early tomorrow morning. My bag isn't yet fully packed, but I'm ready to go. Last night I dropped my sweetie off at the airport for his own trip this summer (4 weeks in Fukuoka University; 2 weeks at Tokyo Tech, and 6 weeks of backpacking throughout Japan). This is the first time we will have been away from each other for more than a week and the first time we've gone more than a day without talking to each other since we met. It'll be a good summer for growth though. A quote from my dear poet Kahlil Gibran: " When you part from your friend you grieve not; for that which you love most in him may be ... read more

Well, folks, we're off to Israel. We finished packing just in time for Lonnie to get us to the airport by 1:30 pm for our 4:35 flight. We were greeted by the Rabbis and given our special Israel trip benchers (prayer and song book for after eating). Then we got on the train got to the Crown Room and here we are...waiting and using the T-Mobile Access point. Samantha is wearing her "Dash m'Yisrael" shirt and Daniel is wearing his "I Love Israel This Much" shirt. Both of them have their names in Hebrew on the back. We'll be having our first night Hannukah celebration on the plane. Samantha says "wow, great, can't wait." Dan says...well, not much. He's mesmerized by the TV. We first fly to Frankfurt arriving in the morning and then have an ... read more

It was a pleasure leaving Athens along a designated bike lane, but all too soon it had petered out and I found myself once again sharing the road with cars. My ride west to Atlanta led me through a landscape on the edge of suburban development. Almost every intersection was marked with signs for new houses: “From the 130s! Crystalwood Lakes Starting in the 160s! Golfing Community, 130s to 450s!” Often the signs were posted one on top of another. A constant line of cement trucks rolled past me, lumbering east from Atlanta. The two lane roads I traveled upon had not been designed for the amount of traffic they were seeing, and I guessed that within a few years the roads would be widened. Time and again I rode past utility workers marking out buried ... read more
