March 12, 2015 (Atlanta, GA) Here's a bit of an update on the DMEI team heading to Swaziland. Dr. Brad Farris is a neuro-ophthalmologist and Director of DMEI's Global Eye Care Program . He's a Professor in the OU Department of Ophthalmology and has adjunct appointments in Neurology and Neurosurgery as well. He will be joined by this year's Neuro-ophthalmology Fellow, Dr. Mark Robinson . Mark is from Virginia, and he plans to return to the area this summer after finishing the fellowship. Dr. Brian Firestone is an ophthalmic oncology and pathology specialist that recently joined DMEI. His undergraduate work was done at OBU in Shawnee, and his medical school at OUHSC. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Scott & White, and fellowship training at Wills Eye Institute. We also have two of our senior residents : Derek Bitner is a senior resident. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and received his medical school training at Baylor College of Medicine. Derek completed his internship in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He and his wife, Brittany, have two young children. He's trying to keep in touch with the Wildcats playing in the Pac12 tournament. Evan Sussenbach graduated from the University of Georgia and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his PGY-2 ophthalmology year at the University of South Carolina and then transferred to DMEI . Evan has extensive travel and volunteer experience in a variety of capacities, and is an accomplished tennis player, cyclist, and ballroom dancer.
