Leaving Atlanta – Monday July 2, 2018
It’s 6 AM and I feel this gentle rub on my leg, I open my eyes and I see Kirsten’s smiling face starring into mine saying. We’re on vacation and we have flights to catch. I smile... knowing Kirsten has given me every moment of extra sleep knowing it going to be a long day.
I’m in and out of the shower in record time and were on our way to pick up Omi.
So, for this adventure Kirsten has swapped houses, yep your read that correctly. About 18 month’s ago, Kirsten listed us on some web site called Homelink.org. She has been getting requests daily, ok maybe not daily but weekly …seriously. So, she accepted a request from a couple in France located in the Loire Valley “Thus the title of my blog Lori Valley”.
We are on our way to France, Nantes to be exact via Dortmund via Düsseldorf. Kirsten and Omi want to visit the Falz’s for a few days and then were off for the Loire Valley.
We just picked up Omi, she was standing
outside her condo looking so chic, Kirsten pulls up and asked you called a Uber?
Omi slides in while I put her suitcase into the back. We’re off to MCO “Orlando’s McCoy Airport”.
It’s 4
thof July week, I know you know this. However, for the seasoned “Buddy Pass” user that I am… it means the flights are wide open. YEAH! I’ve been watching the flights for the past few weeks and ORLANDO – ATLANTA - DUSSSELDORF is wide open.
I drop Kirsten and Omi off at Delta and I park the car, Luis will retrieve the car later today. I go to check in and no one is in line. I get my boarding pass and I’m through TSA in minutes vs hours it normally takes. I’m the only one on the tram to B-side gate 71. Can it get any better? Yes it can, I see Omi talking with her priest by our gate. I’m looking for Kirsten and our eyes meet, she winks at me.
We’re on the plane and on our way to Atlanta.
Ahhh, the fresh smell of jet fuel, we
are in Atlanta.
My internal navigation system points me to my favorite spot in E Concourse. My table is waiting, my server is standing there with a Sweet Water 420 beer.
Kirsten pinches me… wakeup silly boy, the bartender is asking you what you want to drink.
Oh! Sorry I’ll have a Sweet Water 420, please. Bartender looks at me and asks do you want to keep the tab open? YES Please!
We watched Brazil beat Mexico in football, the table next to us was full of Brazilians. They were excited.
A few beers and some food later …we are cleared for our flight.
As I settle in for the flight across the pond, we hope everyone has a firecracker of a 4
thof July.
