It's my birthday-but a work day...and I've already celebrated with my family. i am supporting a Go-Live at a clinic this week. I like this part of my job. I like working with the doctors and other clinicians, getting out of the office, off my butt! I like that Ken is here at the hotel with me this week. We will head back to Asheville where the RV is on Thursday after work. We didn't go out for dinner this week. I am trying to eat healthy and after being on my feet all day, I am tired. The clinic I am supporting is a Pediatric clinic. Man oh man, I am reminded how blessed I am. My days are filled with seeing child after child of very sick little ones. There is this whole other ... read more

I barely moved as Ken got up, kissed me goodbye and left for the airport. I slept until 7:30. When I got up Jason and Amy were up packing to head back to Las Vegas. Ugh! One minute we are all together, the next minute I am saying goodbye as everyone heads in different directions. I get that blue feeling. Time to remind myself how blessed I am. I send Jason and Amy off with some Lemon pound cake, hugs and say goodbye. Justen gets up and we have coffee together before he takes a shower and heads to work. Hugs to him too! What a great Birthday! Now I am alone in my own house. I can't remember the last time this has happened. I did some laundry and cleaning so Justen won't have to ... read more

We had our coffee inside and took a walk around the campground afterwards. I didn't want to walk down in the woods because of all of the spider webs. I packed for the week. I am flying to Atlanta to work on site this week. Ken dropped me off at the Asheville Regional airport. What a cute little airport. I am literally at my gate in 5 minutes. They have wooden rocking chairs near the windows. I bought a turkey sandwich and water for lunch/dinner. I'm flying on a comfortable 80 passenger regional jet. I sat next to a lady who must have had garlic last night. Probably pay back for all the times I have eaten garlic...I love garlic! She is going to Uruguay for a two week vacation. She is meeting her tour group ... read more

We spent the weekend packing up the apartment. Our last night there will be Wednesday night. I will still be working at Children's in Atlanta, but begin working remotely 50% of the time next week. We will be staying in our RV in Stone Mountain Park (outside of Atlanta) just for a few nights, and then heading to North Carolina. I have really enjoyed my year here. The apartment wasn't perfect but we made it home. It was very convenient; I liked the experience of living 'downtown', walking to Piedmont Park, restaurants, museums. Ken didn't enjoy it as much as me. He felt caged up. Atlanta is a great city. It has a lot going on (the traffic is bad!). My favorite thing about Atlanta is the people-so friendly and kind. The least favorite thing is ... read more

We leave on our cruise in 4 days. I look forward to sharing with you along the way! “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain ... read more

Hi everyone! I made it to Atlanta so far, I arrived around 9am and will be sitting here until my flight takes off for Madrid at 7:05pm tonight. It's going to be a long day... There were a lot of tears saying goodbye to my parents this morning, and now I'm trying not to cry alone at the airport, cause then people think I'm weird, and no one else here is crying. Mr. Wilda was awesome when I saw him this morning at the airport, bought me water and made me feel better about leaving my parents at security. At this point, I would say I'm anxious excited. When I talk to all my friends and family I get sad, but when I talk to the people from my program that I'll be meeting in a ... read more

We have been here for 2 months now. We are settled in our apartment and it feels like home. We already have had visitors: Jason, Josh and of course the granddaughters Lola and Bella. We really like it here...not to live forever but for a one year contract it is nice. We live in Midtown which is definitely city life. We walk to restaurants, parks, coffee shops. We sit out on our balcony and listen to the city sounds. Fortunately our balcony backs up to some huge beautiful pine trees. People in Atlanta are really friendly and nice. It's definitely kinder in the south. My job is great. Everyone is really nice and I like what I am doing. Ken is busy being my PA (Personal Assistant) which is really, really nice. I know why people ... read more

You know what today is. I always feel different on this day. I never want to go to work on this day. I want to stay home and watch TV...but I had to work. Ken and I have been sick since we moved in to this apartment. It's really nice looking but is very humid. It smells like mold/mildew. When we rented it, the owner had many candles lit. That should have been a clue. I think we were anxious and excited to get settled. Don't do that. Take your time. Thankfully we only agreed on one month. So last weekend we looked for apartments and found one downtown. I've never lived in a downtown. We are excited and hope we made a good choice. We signed a 7 month lease. It is not furnished, so ... read more

We spend the last couple days getting settled. We paid our first rent and actually did laundry at the apartment. We will move our 'stuff-mainly clothes' in Tuesday and actually sleep there. We only agreed on one month to see if we like it. It is a basement apartment and although it doesn't look like a basment, there could be some dampness. Anyway, we did laundry; I had more paperwork to complete. We had a late lunch, got gas and headed back to the campground. We took a walk and sat by the lake. Ducks from across the lake heard us and came swimming over, got out of the lake and walked up to us. After a few minutes since we didn't have anything to feed them, they got back in the lake and swam away. ... read more
