Day 1

The journey begins

Saturday morning, Kirsten and I get up and head to Savannah GA. What… I though you were going to Italy. Yes we are, however momma is in Savannah so Kirsten and I decided to go and visit her for the afternoon and then drive to Atlanta and hop on the plane there.

Kirsten and I crashed at my sister’s house in Atlanta and Sunday morning while having breakfast set up buddy passes to leave ATL and fly into FRA (Frankfurt Germany) the flights looked the best into Frankfurt around 12 noon.

So from my sister’s house we walked over to the MARTA station and hopped a ride to the airport. The train was full of young and old folks dressed in an odd way. I overheard them talking about they were going to Dragon Con. One woman kept staring at me. All my Dragon Con friends and the lady that kept staring at me get off in downtown Atlanta. I waved good-bye as the train pulled away. Good Bye!

We arrived at the airport. Ahhhhh Concourse E, I’m finally here. One of my favorite travel spots. I believe I will have some of my ashes spread here once I’m gone. Make sure you spread them where they won’t vacuum them up. I would hate to end up in the Atlanta landfill.

So the Buddy pass shuffle begins…. Kirsten logs on to Delta and we start watching the flights. Well Stuttgart is over sold and everyone showed up. We won’t be on that flight. The over sold passengers are being moved to Frankfurt. Not good for us, we make a decision around 3 PM to move our listing to Zurich.

Kirsten is on pins and needles, me I’m having another beer. The worst that could happen is I stay at Ann’s house another night.

Kirsten informs me it’s time to head to the gate. As were walking into the gate area I hear “would Steve & Kirsten Vaughan” please come up to the counter. I mean can Kirsten run a project or what.

Yep another successful shuffle we’re on and were upfront, Wooooo Hooooo. I have another beer please. Make that two.

Sipping 10-year port and gliding over the Atlantic at 30,000 feet Kirsten is fast asleep and I’m almost there. I finished my book, watched two segments of John Oliver and I think it’s time to get some sleep.

I’ll see you tomorrow
