Atlantic Ocean
Almost home! Today was a perfect traveling day. Blue skies, calm seas with a north wind…just perfect! We left Charleston around 8:30am and traveled the Atlantic Ocean down to Fernandina Beach, FL arriving at about 3:30 pm running about 166 miles. Upon entering Cumberland Sound is Fort Clinch to the south, an old Civil War fort located right on the beach. Fernandina Beach looks very industrial until you get to the historic downtown area. We stayed at Fernandina Harbor Marina located in the downtown area with shops and restaurants just a block away. We stopped at the oldest saloon in FL, Palace Saloon and had some Pirate’s Punch then headed to dinner at Pacco’s, a delectable Mexican restaurant. After a margarita (or two) we headed back to the boat to clean up and plan our next destination. We are happy to finally be back in FL. Today was the first day in almost two weeks I’ve been able to wear shorts.
