The last days we spend travelling around in Florida, staying with different couch surfers. We got a little impression of how americans live in different life styles in their own way, and what they think about education and life in general. Specially our last night in Deland with a german emigrated family was very interesting, impressing and inspiring. We went out in the evening to dinner and had great fun.... read more

This has been a relaxing stretch for us - compared with this time last year when we were driven to head south as quickly as possible (50 miles a day!) because of the cold weather. Now we are moving when we want to and enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. We spent 5 days in the Dunedin area enjoying the company of friends Margaret and Ted who showed us the land attractions while we were able to get them on the water to visit a small sand island. The only shortcoming for us is the lack of good anchorages in this area (although Dunedin's City Marina charged just 90c a foot for a slip) - we'll need a string of gold star days to get back on budget.... read more

Buysch Gardens was the port of call on the 18 of June. It was good fun! While to me Disneyworld was more well known as a Florida icon, Alyson suggested we go to Buysch as it was more fun for people our age. She wasn’t wrong! We got some subs for lunch along the way and then headed to Buysch Gardens. Our mission for the day - go on absolutely all the upside down rides we could. We had some initial hiccups with my ticket because it wouldn’t show up on my email and we needed it printed out. Luckily we managed to visit a printing store and get one re issued from the website where we brought it from. Once inside Buysch Gardens. We went on all the rides from the Sheikra to the Kumba. ... read more

June the 14, 2009 I flew with Airtran to Tampa. I reserved a super shuttle online which was 21USd before I came. It was scheduled to pick me up between 2:35- 2:50am and it was running late so it got me at 3:10 am. The guy went to the wrong address or something. I felt bad for making Jill wait outside for me whilst the guy came but she was surprisingly really friendly about it at 3:10 in the morning. In our super shuttle I met some girls from Chicago and Seattle and funnily a couple from Utrecht that I got to practice my Dutch with. Via Atlanta I finally flew into Tampa. I had to make an announcement at Tampa to look for Alyson - though the guy on the other end couldn’t really understand ... read more

We have 15 hours to departure. I have almost finished packing and have surpirsed myself that I have been able to fit the majority of my clothes in a 21 inch carry on bag! Of course, that means my shoes are in the "big" suitcase! Tonight, we finish packing and then we are off to Tampa Internationa Airport to catch our first flight to Atlanta. From Atlanta, we depart to Charles De Gaulle airport on the TGV train to Bordeaux. Next stop Medoc and St. Emilion.... read more

Hello friends and family! I am off again to Costa Rica for a couple of different projects. I thought you might like to hear what I am up to on my cross country adventure. Tomorrow (actually 6 hours from now!) I will be going to Tampa then Miami and then on to the main airport near San Jose, Costa Rica. I will then take a smaller plane to the south to Golfito. I wanted to spend some time in an area in Costa Rica where I hadn't visited before. So, I will be at a Yoga Farm in the very south of CR, almost to Panama on the Pacific Ocean. The views from the yoga studio deck are going to be stupendous! At the yoga retreat I will get vegetarian meals made from the fruit harvested ... read more
