From Gainesville we headed west towards the coast. Took a detour to Cedar Keys which is a very old quaint village on the coast. In addition to being an artsy community there were many homes which appeared to be seasonal. We spoke to one of the locals and she indicated that Cedar Keys is now like Key Largo was many years ago. Tarpon Springs was the next stop. Definitely a tourist town primarily because of the sponge industry. Further south is Dunderin - another quaint older village. We passed through Clearwater which is a maze of freeways and expressways and a very long and large bridge. Freeway traffic runs at 120-130 kph. Our last stop today is Sarasota. Tomorrow we head south towards Homestead which is just before the main Florida Keys.
