The Florida Citrus Center and Souvenir World does sell Florida oranges and grapefruit. It is also a gas station and souvenir stand. It's kind of a fun rest stop along Interstate I-95 not far from historic St. Augustine. We stopped on our drive home from Port Canaveral and our Southern Caribbean cruise. The Citrus Center offers free samples of all varieties of oranges and a serving of orange juice. You can buy the citrus by weight. Inside is a gift shop are all sorts of souvenirs, like alligator or palm tree themed nail clippers. Certainly many of the souvenir offerings are Florida kitsch. But there are some interesting comestibles here. In addition to the candy, taffy, coconut patties and Tortuga rum cakes, there varieties of local hot sauces, salsa and peanuts. I tried the unique peanuts flavored and fried in the shell and found I liked them. (They are consumed shell and all.) Baby alligators are kept in a terrarium. (They are for display, not for sale!)
