After the previous nights encountered we quickly made breakfast got in the car and began our journey up north, but this time on the west coast. After an hour or so we made it 2 Naples, where we chilled out on the beach for a while, being a lot more cautious due 2 the sun burn from miami. Naples was real nice and the beach was gorgeous. I was of course straight in2 that sea. The nice warm gulf of mexico. We then continued north, but inland towards Orlando for theme park fun. We pulled in2 a mostel just south of orlando and hit ther hay.... read more

I actually wrote this last night, but just got it posted today... It’s the end of a long day, even if a good and fun one. Frankly, I am tired and really am tempted to not write this tonight but rather in the morning. However, I really need to get into the habit of writing in a journal EVERY DAY - even if part of me doesn’t want to do so. Today I started with a trip to the Everglades and for an airboat tour. It was only an hour tour but still a blast. It started off with a up close shots of pelicans. Maybe these are pictures that others have in their photo albums, but still new to me and something new for me to experience - especially when one of the pelicans started ... read more

Hi Everyone...well, I've now been in Naples, FL for a day or so. Admittedly, it's not as exciting as the upcoming stories and, to be honest, I have yet to actually take pictures. However, there are a few highlights and/or stories... I actually flew into Miami since it seemed to be cheaper in the long run to "begin" and "end" a ticket to South and Central America from Miami, so there is where I flew. The upside is upon arrival it was a very nice 85F in Miami! I was all about the warmth, even if a little cloudy. There was a little bump at the airport, though, as the car rental company I was originally going to use didn't seem very inclined to pick up their phone for a shuttle bus to their location. They ... read more

Hey there friends upstate in the ice and snow...we'll be there on Tuesday night--- However, until then, we are squeezing every ounce of fun out of this vacation - just like it is a big jucy orangeThird Street, Naples is so cool. It defines the classier; tonier, more monied Florida. You can tell by the cars - Jags and Bentleys; the incredibly lush and beautiful urban landscaping, the goods in the shops - Armani, Versaci, and Manolo, the beautiful people and even the dog breeds! Dressed for christmas, this splendid shopping / dining area was urban just gorgeous - night and day. On Friday evening, we window shopped and enjoyed a great dinner at the Tommy Bahama Cafe Emporium here on 3rd St. While exploring a piazza, we happened upon an opening reception for awesome European ... read more

Sometimes just doing what the locals do is just the best. Wednesday is Farmer's Market Day in Marco Island and we . We got pink gulf shrimp (these biggies were caught that very day). The cooking directions - boil for five minutes with a little sugar and a squeeze of key lime - proved to be outstanding. The "captain" who was selling the shrimp also threw in a few grapefruit, key limes, and oranges. We bought guacamole (from a man from Columbia), anchovie stuffed olives (from a charming Frenchman), and marmalade made with local citrus. We passed by interesting pineapple plants, beautiful orchids, and huge pointsettia. The bake goods looked yummy and were from a German bakery established first on Cape Cod; and we learned that the bee keeper also happens to play cello in the ... read more

Hi all - Life continues to be good. We ventured up to Tin City, a series of old tin-roofed buildings that have been turned into gift shops and restaurants located just as you cross the bridge on Route 41 to enter Naples. We didn't buy anything and came back later to the Riverwalk Restaurant for lunch (grouper sandwich for Wes; grouper tacos for me. The food was wonderful! The Riverwalk is a sister restaurant to the Dock at Crayton's Cove, which is one of our favorite Naples' restaurants. The big surprise of the day happened when we walked along the board walk under 5th ave. (Route 41)! We found ourselves in Bay Front, a very upscale residential/retail complex. We visited three art galleries, one had very interesting avant guarde work, one featured beautiful, representational contemporary artists, ... read more

Greetings from Naples! When Adrienne told me that we’re visiting Naples, my initial thought was the city in Italy, but nonetheless Naples, Florida has its own charms. Adrienne had her high school reunion this weekend, so I hauled my bag along with Logan’s to attend her event. Apart from the reunion, we managed to sightsee and relax at Naples Beach, where the sand is white and the water is blue. We found many close-to-perfect sand dollars, and got some nice tan from hanging out at the beach. Well it was just another weekend with Logan and Adrienne, before heading out to my next adventure. Till then, -Cy ... read more

It's been a pretty long time since we last added an entry, but we haven't forgotten you! (and hopefully you haven't forgotten us either!) We've got a lot to catch up on so I'll skip the formalities and get straight into it. We left you in San Jose so this is where we'll pick up.... For our final day in San Jose we thought that we'd better do some sightseeing, so headed into town with our trusty LP in search of the Museum of Criminology. The LP gave it a good write up and we were both looking forward to it. We trapsed around the town for a good hour at least trying to find the place, ending up in some slightly dodgy areas but finally (after seeking directions from helpful locals) we found the right ... read more
