Here I am....back with all of you and showing off my new knee. Hip-Hip- Hooray or maybe Knee-Knee- Yippee! Everything went very well and I have been riding along on my recovery road with no problems. It all went better than even I thought it would.....I have not let out a blood curdling scream even once. Who would have guessed? That is the truth. Amazing......I have to admit I have little to no discomfort. Did the doctor do a lobotomy on me?? I don’t know.....I’m not fussing about anything. He must have done something cause this is too good to be true. If I slur my words or mumble a lot, you will know I did have a lobotomy. I promised you that this blog installment would take you through it all, right along with me. ... read more

Tropical Palms is showing an exciting change everyday. As the leaves change color and tumble to the ground up North, the sun shines brighter down here in the South each time another friend arrives on scene for their winter respite. The flight of the snowbirds has begun. The count is going up daily. More and more of our friends will land safely here in their sanctuaries as the days grow shorter. Hip-Hip-Hooray! It is wonderful to see each one of them once again. We all spent our summers on different journeys. Now we can spend time together having fun and making new memories once again. Oh, by the way......Remember Daylight Savings Time is next weekend. Cory and I made our way over to several of our favorite places. Bar Harbor was first on the list. One ... read more

Sometimes an event doesn’t have to be earth shattering to be part of my blog material. I know you realize that I strive to come up with items that will knock your socks off. But that doesn’t have to be 100% of the time...sometimes we can just go barefoot. So, sit back and relax....this blog is just a feel good one. Nothing that’s going to get you all hyped up. But it never knows how another will react to a life’s event. We did get pretty excited and hyped up the other day when our golf cart finally arrived. Lulu was beyond exhilaration. She grabbed her pumpkin and took off on the golf cart. Too early for Trick or Treat, Lu! She doesn’t care.....she’ll ride forever just hoping for any handout. What a leech she ... read more

This is an exciting blog to write. We have had several events that have made us happy: Happy, Happy, Happy! The biggest and happiest of them all is the birth of our first great-grandchild. Our grandson, Ryan, and Amber had a baby boy on Oct. 4th. His name is Henry Max Wilder Knapp. Of course, he’s the cutest baby ever. A new generation has begun in our family. Whew! Does that mean we are super old now? Nah. Age is just a number......Congratulations and Welcome Baby Henry. As you might remember, when we left our RV at TP in June, our bedroom slide-out was stuck. It wouldn’t go out. We weren’t very happy but it was better that way than being stuck out since we were leaving the RV parked. We knew we had to face ... read more

Cory did a great job getting us here! Yesterday, we arrived @ 2:45 pm at our winter respite resort: Tropical Palms Carefree RV Resort. The first wonderful face we saw was Art’s. He had turned on our refrigerator and turned down our a/c. They just don’t come any better than Art! He’s the best! We decided we would not unpack our car...just do a few basics with the RV and sleep in it. Work can start tomorrow. Cory was going to drive out RV around the park to get all its juices flowing. Engine on.....whoa, whoa, whoa.....what Cory? Whaaaat? Engine off. He says the dash panel reads “low coolant”. We’ve seen that warning in times past. Cory opens up the coolant tank and we pour some in. He wonders where the coolant went over the summer......I ... read more

Back at the tropical ranch, our routine is beginning to settle in somewhat. Still lots of chores to do but we can take our time. We have lots of that. The best part of the day is morning coffee time when Art comes up to join us for a cup of joe. It is so good to be back with our friend again. Art was the overseer of our RV while we were with our family up North. He did a super job....just like everything he does to help all of us out. “We are all family”....that’s what Art always says. We say he’s The Godfather to us all. He took a picture of one of the empty sites in the Sandcastle area. You can get an idea as to what it looks like now. Rumor ... read more

One week ago (May 27th) we were all packed up, closed up, hooked up and ready to drive out of Tropical Palms to head North. You all were nicely settled in your seats and Lulu noted no one was arguing for the “shotgun” seat. We bid our farewell to Sam and Sandy and watched as they rolled through the exit gate at TP. “We’ll miss you and will look forward to seeing you again soon” we called out after them. Okay...our turn. Art stood guard in his golf cart watching our RV move ahead. It moved one inch and then: BONG, BING, BONK, BEEP, RING, DING, DONG....our bells and whistles went off!....and the RV wouldn’t move. Oh, God! Not good. Bad sign. What is going on? Cory studies the dash gauges. RATS! Our two air bag ... read more

Take your reservations needed. This is it. Our last golf cart ride at Tropical Palms for the season. We have to relish every moment and bump of it. Hold on.....Driver Cory is going to take us to places this little cart has not gone before. Ooooo.....the excitement builds. Navigator Sam prepares himself for the unknown as do Sandy and myself (the backseat drivers). We head up back through Old Town. Slowly, very slowly life is beginning to come back to this place. The Burger King that had closed has reopened....a good sign. As we sail down the wide sidewalk along the main drag of 192, the cars pass by us like planes on a runway. Vroom..Swoosh!! No way are we going to play chicken with these speedsters. Our bouncing buggy moves along dodging the many ... read more

Yup.....another year has been tallied into my calendar age record. My numbers keep getting bigger and bigger (and so do I but let’s not talk about that right now). Rats. Because I am in my Golden Years now, I decided I needed to know what that meant and what to expect. I googled it (Google is our friend). Google stated: “The Third Age is now considered by many to be the “golden years” of adulthood. It is generally defined as the span of time between retirement and the beginning of age-imposed physical, emotional, and cognitive limitations, and today would roughly fall between the ages of 65 and 80+.” Well, that’s it! Yup...I am in my Third age! I meet all the criteria for the Golden Years. I could offer up my specifics for each category but ... read more

Shhhhhhhh. What can we say? Nothing! The question of the day is “what’s new”? Answer: nothing. The next question of the day is “what are you going to do today”? Answer: nothing. Last question of the day is “what did you do today”? Answer: nothing. Nothing, nada, nil, zip, zero, zilch, naught, diddly-squat. That’s our daily agenda. That’s what fills our dance card. Nothing! Blank. I’m sure most of you find all these “do nothing” days boring and frustrating. Cory does. Me.....not so much. To be honest....and I always am....I’m kind of liking it! I’m content to watch TV, play on my iPad, sit outside and enjoy our surroundings and most of all....write this blog. It’s said “Nothing is Impossible”....guess what? Nothing is Possible! But don’t get me wrong....I truly hope and pray this all consuming ... read more
