Busy times, Busy days. We are still keeping up a good pace with the Knapp's. Cory enjoyed a round of golf with Jay on Saturday (yesterday). Old Town was having their anniversary celebration in the evening (Saturday). We decided to join in this celebration. Our group marched up to Old Town in the late afternoon to enjoy pizza at Flippers Pizzeria. We sat on their deck and devoured a couple tasty Italian pies. Yum! Lulu did not join us....we walked...too hard for her to do (no legs).
We started walking off our very filling pizzas by strolling down the main street of Old Town. We made it to the Southern Breeze Bar & Grill and decided we needed to get a table if we wanted to see and hear the special band that would be playing: KC and The Sunshine Band. Cory & Jay didn't mind ordering several beers so we could sit at the table. The crowds were building. The place was festive and noisy. Starter bands were playing "our era" tunes. Let's Rock & Roll!
Hey, wait a minute! Who is that coming our way. Can it be? Elvis is in the building....Elvis is at Old Town!
Old Town
Waiting for the band And who is that with him? Why it's Marilyn Monroe and Buddy Holly. Fantastic! What a thrill. And they joined us for pictures. Cool! As you can see, Cory really thought Marilyn was cool or rather yet, HOT! Lory & Jay and the girls had left before Buddy Holly and Elvis came back through for a second time. Instead, Sam & Sandy found us and joined Cory & me. Elvis & Buddy did not hesitate when asked to join our group. The party was really getting exciting now. A family from Ireland asked to sit with us at our table. Blarney, of course! We had a nice visit.....it would be something to see them again but odds are against that.
We waited and waited for KC to come on stage....never happened. They said he got detained but would be there shortly. Shortly keep us sitting there for 1 1/2 hours. Forget the shortly message. We had had it.
At that point, the famous car cruise night parade started. We moved over to the roadway to watch these exquisite cars rumble by. Over 440 cars participated. It was a long parade and the weather took a turn for the
worse. From scorching heat, it was so cold now. Brrrrrr. Almost like that boat ride we took at Tarpon Springs.....not quite as bad but almost. Sam said he was frozen solid. He wore his safety, reflective vest hoping it would provide him another layer of warmth....nope. Only 14 electric blankets could change our body temperatures.
Because, we could not cope with the frigid air, we headed back to Tropical Palms. Old Town is just adjacent to our park so it's an easy walk home. Millions of cars lined the road because of all the festive celebrations going on tonight. One good reason we were glad we walked. We still don't know if KC & The Sunshine Band ever showed up. That's okay. We gave it our best shot.
Today, our dance card read "Gatorland." We've been here before a couple times. I love it. You can never see enough 'gators, you know. Cory & I bought cheap tickets at Lakeland's Snowbird Extravaganza back in January. Tickets there were $10.00 each. Doesn't get any better than that! Lory went on-line to get the Zip-Line tickets for the girls. I gave her a $10 off coupon for each of their
tickets. Prices were good.
We trolled this reptile land seeing thousands of alligators, took a train ride and saw more alligators and other animals, moseyed along the boardwalk watching the big white egrets nesting in the trees along the breeding marsh. Of course, the girls were occupied flying over it all on the big Zip-line. Fun for all!
Once back to the Knapp's condo, Cory & Jay plopped down in front of the TV to watch the Masters Golf game. I took a few pictures of Lory in their condo which they leave tomorrow and move into Cypress Harbor. When we reached our RV, Sandy & Sam were heading out for their evening walk, so we joined them. Once back, now it was Cory & Sam watching the Master's Golf Game....still on! It was getting chilly outside so we bundled Sam up to keep him warm. He was going home and getting under his electric blanket. Don't let the bedbugs bite, Sam.
Time to say good-night to all of you! My legs are all worn out after a full day of walking. As Nancy Kerrigan would loudly scream "my leg, my leg!" WHYYYYY? See you soon.
