Sock Hop Party
Dancing up a storm Tropical Palms is never lacking for fun things to do. The date on your calendar should read January 19th now. We're getting there. Soon, very soon, we will all be on the same page.
We are going to a Sock Hop tonight so get out your poodle skirts, saddle shoes and tie your hair back into a pony tail. Since my hair can't even be pulled back into a stub, I decided it needed a good trimming. We drove to a Fantastic Sams and let the beautician do her magic on me. Even David Copperfield would be challenged. I had a body perm in mid December hoping it would give me some style for awhile. Nope! I'm hopeless. It was too long on top so it dragged what hair I have down like a sloppy, messy veil. Snip, snip, snip....."fancy fingers girl" took care of that. Fortunately she is more experienced in her trade than me. Remember I told you Lulu originally had long, flowing locks. Beautiful. Too much work to keep it nice so I chopped those long curls off. When I was done, she looked like a chicken has pecked her head. That's why she wears the ribbons
DJ Dennis & Cory
Play those great, old tunes in her hair....a distraction. I am far from a pro in the hairdresser field. Cory got his haircut, also. His gal did a nice job on him. Now, at least, we were half way presentable for the ballroom.
Trying to make my Fitbit look used, Cory and I hiked up to Old Town in the afternoon. Our RV park is located just behind it so it is an easy walk. Old Town is a touristy area with many various gift shops lining both sides of a little brick road. There are also a few bar/grills as well as an arcade. Adjacent to the town is a nice amusement park called Fun Spot. That place has all the monster, scary rides: sky high bungee ride, the huge slingshot ride that shoots you to the heavens and the Vomitron which says it all. There are also other more normal rides. Our grandkids have gone on the big ones....and lived to talk about it later. Phew! Back to Old Town, on Saturday night there is a Cruise Night where many people bring in their beautiful, classic cars for all to see and drool over. Wednesday night they have block dancing with music
Connie Curran
Made delicious meatballs by the Dukes. It is a good entertainment locale and a fun place to walk around.
Returning to the RV, I whipped up a Grape Salad to take to the Hop tonight. Easy....I like easy! Cory wandered the grounds and found an empty cigarette box to slip under his white T-shirt. I didn't have the poodle skirt so just made the best of what I had. My heart was in it but I didn't pass as a teenager for sure. Lulu stayed home. I knew she would take center stage and this was not the time or place for her to show off. She hogs all the attention so frequently. She needed a rest anyway! We had a good time listening and dancing to all the good, old tunes played by DJ Dennis (remember the Karaoke King). He had the place jumping. The food was delicious, the music was great and the company was the best. Everyone had a terrific time....."in the old RV park tonight".
Thursday (21st), Cory played golf with the men from Tropical Palms. This time the course they played was over at a Celebration. He enjoyed himself playing golf with George and the others.
Let the party begin
Connie, Sandy, Sam - Fran & Cory He has only missed one Thursday but we haven't really been here all that long.
Get your rain gear on. Dig out the old galoshes. We have finally caught this blog up to present time (22th). The sky is black (noontime) and any minute the torrents will come. The TV is showing all the storms and tornado threats in various sites. We are just going to be hit with the drenching, blinding rains. You do not want to be out in it! Take cover, one and all. "Rain, Rain Go Away....We All Want to Play Today!" And the next day and the next day and the next day.....etc.
The rain let up so Cory and I decided to take a walk around Celebration (the town that Disney built). We also had a package to mail and that's where he goes part of the time to do his mailing. We started our hike through the town, around the fancy hotel and out onto the wonderful trail behind the magnificent homes. Uh-Oh.....more black skies. We picked up our pace and ALMOST made it back to the car...but not quite. We ducked into a covered alley for shelter. Too late, my
shorter hairstyle took a beating. Now it looks kind of like a squirrels nest. Some of you may say it has nuts in it, too. That's ok...I have broad shoulders to match all my other broad parts. LOL.
