Today’s activity took us in a different direction other than amusement parks and beaches. Nicki Jo, our activities director, arranged for some of us (including Lulu) to participate in an annual event held countrywide. It’s called “Be Bold, Be Bald!”
It is a national cancer fundraising event held in October each year, and takes place wherever you are. We are at Tropical Palms.
We started out with a potluck lunch. That hit the spot. A nice variety of delicious food. Linda thought it would be a good idea to have a potluck lunch everyday. Yummmmmmmmm.
Nicki Jo handed out our bald caps to decorate. Some folks really put the full glitz on theirs. We put a penny on ours to recognize a very dear person who is dealing with cancer at this time. She knows the significance of the penny.
It was nice to get together again with some of the people here at Tropical Palms. Our friends were here and we also made new ones. That’s one aspect that is so rewarding at this park. So many people to meet and quickly become friends.
Lulu used our bald caps and became part of the group
in a flash. She always does, you know. Sonny brought along his delightful but strange looking buddy. Lulu took a liking to it right away. I have no idea why. I thought it was sick.....it had real bad color. Lulu is pretty picky in picking out her boyfriends. Must be this creature had something that attracted her. It could have been his teeth but he did have quite a muscular body. Having a body of her own is her desire. Perhaps a little jealousy going on here.
It was a nice event with a good purpose. We are glad we could participate in it. Thank you, Nicki Jo for all the dedicated effort you put forth to keep all of us occupied and entertained. Our supportive thoughts go out to all those who have faced cancer in one form or another; be it themselves, family or friends.
We keep riding our trusty golf cart over to the pond to see the BIG alligator. No luck yet. They said the ‘gator trappers were here today to snag the BIG guy but with no luck. Maybe we will go early tomorrow morning to see them in action. That would certainly
be BLOG material.
We drove past Ray & Saray’s cottage. A day of celebration! Ray & Saray flew down here from St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania. They had made arrangements for their car to be brought down. Some glitch happened with these plans so they have been stuck down here without a car for awhile. Fortunately, their friends have helped them to get around.....even taking them to Epcot to see their most favorite mariachi band. They love this band and visit them on a very frequent basis. Well, Hallelujah.....their car was delivered today. No stopping them now! Mariachi Band....here they come! I told Ray that his car arrival was worthy of being blog material. Happy Days are here again.
We did see a herd of deer on our ride around the park. They are a little skittish if you really get up close and personal. Otherwise, they just hang together eating food that has been left for them. Of course, Lulu was yelling “Oh, Dear”, “Oh, Dear”. They took off through the trees and brush. Big mouth Lulu!
Just a couple sites down from us, large blow-up Halloween decorations amuse the by passers. For some reason Jack Skelliington fell
over. Lulu rolled over (no legs to walk) to him to look at him eye to eye. She’s fearless. Nothing scares this amazing daredevil. Way to go, Lulu.
Management at our park is working hard to maintain this park as an attractive and inviting place to stay. Old, unsightly brush and plants are being cut down. Landscapers work daily mowing and weed-whacking around the sites. Their efforts are paying off. Our park is loverly.
Today was as toasty warm as it has been yesterday, the day before and beyond. Cory & I took a swim in the pool to cool off. It worked! Just a very few people were in the pool. That will change soon enough as the seasons move on. We like being about to float around the pool on our foam noodles and visit with others enjoying the refreshing waters. Our noodles are getting old....we bought them when they were 99 cents! May have to invest in new ones. I know one thing I’ll have to invest in.....another style bathing suit. I wear a blouson style suit hoping to cover up my imperfections....doesn’t work. As I serenely floated along on my noodle, I realized my
suit top had floated all the way up my chest exposing my entire torso. Thank God, this part of me was under the water. I had to hold the top down during my entire floating session. That’s just not going to work! Which style do you think I should go with?
This ends today so this ends today’s blog. Stay tuned....more events on the horizon.
