We are finally here at Tropical Palms! Yippee! Hooray! Hallelujah! What a great day. I’m sure you are all glad to be here safe and sound, also. Lulu kissed the ground when we stopped to register at the office. Three Cheers....We’re Here!
Our day started out similar to all the others. Left Wildwood Campground at 9:22 AM. We belong to a group on Facebook for Tiffin (make of our RV) owners. I posted the photo of our missing heater door. So many responses. Most of them had the same thing happen to them. Gave us good suggestions. It’s a great site with very helpful comments on everything Tiffin. ANYWAY.....one person on the FB site asked if we were at Wildwood last night because they saw a Tiffin RV with a missing door on its side. Yep....it was us! Amazing what this social media can do.
We had about 75 miles to drive to get to TP. We rode along with no more problems. Yippee ki yay!! Noticed a few changes on the usual route we follow. Most everything looked very familiar, though.
At our turn off 192 onto the small road that leads into our park, there was
one big change. On this corner there used to be a big motel with a restaurant and massage parlor. All of it has been leveled flat to the ground. That’s where it stands right now....only flat ground surrounded by green net fencing. In time, they are going to build a Hilton Hotel and a few shoppes. That will be nice.
Back to our arrival at Tropical Palms. Saw a couple of friends as Cory was unhooking our car near the office. Everyone in the office was pleasant and welcoming. Cory and I had previously planned how we would position our RV on our site to make it good & level. In times past, it is a little off and our RV rocks side to side when either of us walk through it. Like elephants clumping along. Even Lulu’s head rolls off kilter when she goes through the RV. This time, it seemed real good. Yeah! Okay, now we put down our levelers to stabilize it. Whaaaaat! Are you kidding!?! Don’t tell us we have another problem! Rats! Our levelers won’t go down! Rats! When we went to Lazydays last April to have some work done, one of the issues
was for them to reset our leveling system so we could use the automatic instead of the manual. Yeh, right! Another curse from Lazydays. Obviously, they didn’t do it or they screwed it up. Lazydays is off our list forever! So here we are....motor running and nothing happening. Bill said to plug in our electric and see if that helped....nope. Cory unscrewed the motor to the leveler to move the contacts....nothing. He pounded on them...still zip, zero, squat! We decided we were level enough without them and should proceed with opening out our slides. We would figure our leveler problem at another time...we have plenty of that while down here.
Cory turned on our LOUD motor again and huh?? The warning light on the leveling system was no longer lit. Haaaaay! What the heck....we tried the system again....nothing with automatic but the manual way had them going down! Yippee! They all went down nicely except for one rear one. It stopped just a little above where we wanted it to be. Alright. We can deal with this. Cory pounded a board in the space between the leveler and the ground. It works! We’ll worry that leveler at another time.
Cory will work on it some more when he’s not so whipped. Crisis over.
Our friends, Walt & Diane stopped by. Linda was with Diane. Carolyn came over. Just so terrific to see our park friends again.
Cory & I went back to work trying to get our stuff in order. What an ordeal. We aren’t doing it all at one time....no way. We have plenty of days to finish this wearisome task. Lulu is limited as to how much she can do....no arms or legs. She keeps watch and supervises us. Diane came back and gave me a much welcomed rest. I needed that...thank you. She drove me around our park showing me some of the changes and pointing out the places where friends had stayed and now are not coming back. That’s sad. She showed me the sites that people have paid to rent for an entire year. There are many, many of them! She took me see more friends. The park looks very nice and I’m amazed to see so many people here already. Thank you for the tour, Diane.
Finally, Cory and I had enough of this back-breaking work. Time to go eat
cause we hadn’t eaten all day. Went across the highway to Logan’s. We drove.....not risking our lives like the night before. We had a really good meal. Our server, Craig, was excellent. We’ll ask for him the next time we go back.
Back to the RV. Cory got our satellite dish up and running....just in time to watch the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football - Go Bills!
Diane reminded us about Coffee Hour Tuesday - tomorrow. Can’t sleep in. Starts at 9:00 AM.....unless she meant the coffee clatch in the lobby. No matter, we’ll be there just to see more of our good friends. So much to look forward to!
See you in the morning.
