Kayaking

Ken is up as usual before anyone else and he makes coffee. Lola and I lingered in bed, looking out at the water from our window. The water is calm so we decide to kayak first thing after coffee. Lola went with Daddy and Ken and I were together. Lola had no trouble rowing but got tired, saying the oars were too heavy. The bay is shallow so you can see coral and the sea bottom very easily. We hadn’t had breakfast so we head to Five Brothers Grocery for breakfast. It is a local Cuban storerestaurant known for its café con leche and sandwiches. We are so disappointed when we pull up to the lot and it is closed for vacation from July 2-July 30. My kind of living!

We head to Winn Dixie and do some grocery shopping. Back home and Jason makes grilled corn on the cob; Pops grills Brats and we enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we all take a nap!! After waking, Lola and I swim and the guys go out on the Sea Doos. Lola progressed in her swimming, going all the distance of the pool using her mask and snorkel. She is so proud. After the guys return she shows them how well she is going. She hasn’t used ‘Pinky’ (a floatation device swimming suit) for days!

After showers, we take the golf cart to the local restaurant ‘Looe Key’ and have grilled mahi, conch fritters, shrimp and Lola orders chicken fingers. A guy with long curly blond hair is playing a guitar and singing; people are dancing. Lola wants to dance so her and I go to the dance floor. After a few steps, she says her legs are tired from swimming, so we go back to the table. The food is great! On our way back home, we turned down several side streets exploring the area. We see crabs and a turtle crossing the road.

We swim for a little before we head in to watch ‘Mountain Men’. It’s bed time. Lola sleeps with Daddy. Ken and I read for a while.
