Mid-60s. Windy.

After mid-morning breakfast, headed for Key West. Took wrong turns a couple of times. Drove a lot on surface streets. Finally found turnpick. Took of 10, 20 cents. Interesting trip to Key West. Nice to make once; wouldn't want to make a habit of it. Some lovely views of bay. Lots of nice tropical homes on stilts. Also, very much highway driving.

All camping outrageously priced. Even State Parks are $23.50 for tent space. Walked around Key West shops. Bought t-shirts for Christmas gifts. Ogled stud and leather shops. Paul was winked at in Fast Buck Freddie's. On return, had good dinner in Islamorada (the Green Turtle). I had grouper; Paul had alligator. Very macho. Walls covered with photos and newspaper clippings of huge fish caught in local waters. Full meal (soup -- conch-chowder -- home-baked bread, salad, potato, veggies, coffee). Very tasty.

Made shopping trip for sailing provisions. All looked terribly dry. Should be fine eating.

Delightful B&B: Grandma Newton's in Florida City. Had Captain's Quarters. Decorated with fishing nets, shells, tiller wheels, etc. Tres nautical.

Large bathroom with shower, two sinks, double tub. Took bath. Read. Quite relaxing.
