Today we battled our way through endless traffic jams along the many toll roads to finally arrive in Washington this evening. It was a rather boring trip with not a lot to look at on the way. All you could really see from the highway was truck stops with fast food restaurants that resembled shopping malls.
The apartment here is in the basement of a terrace house and is much bigger than the little studio we had in New York. It has a nice new kitchen, a lounge/dining area and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The neighbourhood is very close to the Capital and is 10 minutes walk to the White House. Tomorrow we will take one of the city bikes and explore the area and then carry on to the Smithsonian museums.
The weather is still good and reasonably warm so hopefully it will stay that way for a few days.
