When we left Seattle we were fortunate enough to rise above the clouds and saw a spectacular view of Mt. Rainer, you can see Adams and in the very back Mount St. Helens.
For years now Christopher and I have talked about going to Washington DC we have spoken about all of the monuments, museums and the history. We finally decided to make the trip this spring. Like most of our travels or hypothetical travels we head to the library and get just about every book that is available on the location that we can get our hands on. This was a huge under taking as just about everyone has an opinion on what is the best museum, monument, time or year and day etc to be in DC.

Part of the reason why we were able to make this amazing trip now is because we used my mom's airline passes. Although we flew standby it just added to the excitement and adventure of our travels. We decided this was the perfect time to visit with my college roommate and her husband in Baltimore, MD. Neither Christopher nor I had ever been to Maryland or DC. We started out very early in the morning with the plan to make our first leg to Chicago. We lucked out straight away and made the flight, we were even lucky enough to fly first class. The

next flight we missed, and got onto one that was heading to Ronald Reagan Airport. When we planned our trip we knew we were coming to DC during one of the most impressive times of the year spring, when the cherry blossoms were in full swing. When we arrived at Ronald Reagan we pulled into the gate to see fireworks in celebration of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Monica and Dan drove out to get us which was completely amazing since we had originally intended on going to Baltimore and not DC. However, it all worked out in the end. As we drove back to Baltimore, we were able to drive past so many monuments and see the lights of the city it was the perfect preview of what was to come.

We were so excited to see Monica and Dan’s house it was so cute and we were able to finally meet their adorably handsome beagle Jack. We didn’t really outline exactly what we wanted to do each day. Monica walked us through what would happen when we bought tickets the next day for the MARC train that would take us daily from Baltimore to DC. The public transportation

is very easy to use I have to commend the city planner on that. That night we ironed out the itinerary for our first day in DC. It was one of those situations where there were so many places on the list of must see places that we really did not know where to begin...

Me at the airport.

This airport was almost completely empty when we arrived, assuming most were watching the fireworks or already on their way home. Reagan Airport has this really pretty ceiling not like other airports.

Since no one was around we couldnt really find someone to capture our moment in DC, so we improvised with Chris' long arms...
