Our departure date finally arrived! We embarked on our long journey to India from Newark, NJ airport, with a view from our gate that glimpsed the Manhattan skyline. The first of many "hurry up and wait" situations, having arrived at the airport a solid 4 hours early. Liking everyone already. After a madrugada (wee morning hours) layover in London Heathrow we were flying in British Airways economy style to our first destination, Chennai, India!!! A warm and breezy 2am arrival. Was flooded with smell memory and brimming with excitement despite my blurry, tired eyes. I finally figured out the smell memory...distant ocean breeze! Haha unfortunately it did not last while passing over the raw sewage filled river. Nonetheless, still inspired and excited!... read more

26/7…..Havoc in Mumbai…..Floods, offices closed, people stuck in various places!! I was on a week leave that week & my love Sonu was in office! Even she was stuck up in our TKP office from Monday!! In all this chaos, none of us ever thought that same weekend, 3 of us in NA Accounting Team, I, Chirag & Pracheer will be flying off to Delaware for managing the business contingency situation. That Friday I was returning home after watching “Sarkar” starring Amitanh Bacchan. On my way back in auto, I got a call from Pracheer & Chirag saying that they have my forex as well as air tickets which they will hand over to me at the airport. I was stunned at the speed at which all these things took place!! On phone, my friends also ... read more

Brilliantly written by: ROBIN The count-down is on! Carolyn and I are bustin' outta this joint in sixteen days. I don't know about Carolyn's family, but I'm sure mine still has a million questions. So pop some popcorn, put your feet up, and get comfortable-- welcome to Tunisia 101: Where, What, and Why the Hell We're Going. I'll try to cover the FAQ I get all the time, but comment if you have more, and Carolyn and/or I will clear it up for you! NUMBER ONE The first questions I get asked: WHERE is Tunisia? WHAT is it like? Is this an African safari deal, or will the students be trekking around in the desert on a bunch of grumpy camels? Well, it's kinda both. Tunisia is a small African republic, roughly the size of a ... read more

Obfuscator writes: We left our campsite at Killen's Pond State Park, and drove into Dover. Dover has a great many museums and things to look at, particularly for a city that doesn't seem to be all that big. The first stop was the capitol, as we always enjoy seeing them when we can. Delaware's capitol was a bit strange. For one thing, they called it Legislative Hall, and it seemed a lot smaller than many we've seen. I guess this shouldn't really come as a major surprise, since Delaware is pretty small. That wasn't the only strange thing though. The building also has unusual architecture, which makes it look distinct from the typical American capitol design. Instead of a large dome and all marble construction, Delaware has basically no marble, and a smallish cupola atop their ... read more

so i packed 99.9% of my pack, the only things left out are the essentials - passport, ticket to zambia (which i won't need until sept 5, how many bets on me losing it before then?), camera and a few toiletries so i don't look too special coming off the plane in dublin. and the best part - my pack weighs in at 23.5 lbs. so i am cheating a bit - i don't have full water bottles yet and of course no food (i've heard that it's not too hard to come by in europe) but i'm pysched that even with my tent and sleeping bag, it's still less than 25 lbs. hard to imagine that i'll be living out of that for the next 8 months or so. good thing i don't have super-high ... read more
