Okay so we're all agreed god put Nevada on earth to make shit holes look good, not all of it but there are places where House Proud is a fantasy graphic novel. Then on to Utah and Brian Head. Having a Brian in the group made a visit to Brian Head a no brainer, sadly we were unable to graffitti the signs but no doubt all the jokes have been made.We based ourselvrs in Cedar City UT, a town which hasmore take away "restaurants" (why do they insist on calling themselves that?) than there are pick up trucks. We ound one family mexican restaurant which was preety good and the staff were excellent and so tolerant!Brian Head is out of the usual tourist route and is a passable intermediate mountain, it being a blue bird day didn't detract from the fun and I admit to going downhill as fast as I can.The drive from Cedar City to Montrose in Colorado included a trip to Bryce Canyon and a crossing of Souther Utah. The scenery is mind blowing. You look at the hills and see millions of years of weathering as the earth slowly matures. We will never destroy the planet despite what yiu may hear, we may make it uninhabitable for humans but the planet will view us as a one day flu and get on with the rest of time. The drive o Montrose took all day and into the night but we arrived at the house to find it to be a five bedroom six bathroom, lets face it mini mansion. we are here for the the next three nighf=ts and will get more exercise walking around the house than a day on the slopes. The comparison to some of the poverty and just plain bogan redneckism that you see as you drive through this country of contradictions is stark.Americans do lots of things well but they have no grasp of either irony or subtelty. I have had to say a couple of time "sorry I was being ironic", of course it could be that they just don't understand my accent but i think not.Tomorow we are off to Teluride to ski some more. Wine may be cosumed, but thems the breaks.
