Geo: 39.74, -104.992It is 36 degrees and snowing - hard. Raise your hand if you care.Jeff and I don't care! We are driving to DIA (Denver International Airport) to go first to Chicago and then on to Orlando, FL for a week. For those of you who don't know, I am a huge, huge Harry Potter fan. Ummmm...it actually borders on obsession to be honest. My birthday is next week and what an awesome birthday present from my wonderful husband - 3 day tickets to the "Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter" theme parks at Universal Studios. We have been to one of the parks, but a new one opened earlier this year; and the Hogwart's Express connects the two. Grab your broomstick and come along! If you prefer not to come on this adventure with us, ... read more

Geo: 39.7392, -104.985It is 13 degrees (-3 with the wind) and snowing like crazy. We are on our way to DIA (Denver International Airport) for a flight that leaves we are not quite sure when... The flight was originally scheduled for 11:35, later changed to 11:45. This morning we got a text message that it was delayed until 12:45. Minutes later another message that the newest new time is 12:15. Since our friend, Tom, is driving us to the airport, this has necessitated several phone calls this morning. Finally, we decided to leave the house when we originally planned. Yucky weather and slippy roads aside we are happy to be heading to the airport - where to?Pasadena, CA...we are going to watch the Rose Parade on New Year's Day!Every New Year's Day we lay in bed ... read more

Since we miss all of you when we travel we’re returning to blogging about our trip so that we can keep in touch along the way. We hope you’ll respond and let us know what you are doing and of course let us know how much you’re missing us too, even if you really don't. We had decided to travel “out west” even before we knew that our Care-A-Vanner Reunion group was not officially building together this year. Our group is simply getting older and less able to tackle some of the work involved. The will is there but the body objects! There is a smaller group building in Florida and we will miss being there with them. Our plan is to join in for a few drop in builds along the way rather than signing ... read more

There is so much to see and do around the Denver Colorado area. The traffic can be heavy at times, but it is a delightful place. I loved the blue background of the mountains, and some of them were still snowcapped. I have already decided that the next time I come to this part of Colorado; it will be in the summer so I can enjoy camping in those same mountains. I actually came to Denver for work, but have friends that live a few hours away. We decided to make it a fun adventure. So I planned to remain in town a few days extra after my work was done. We are all avid sports fans, so going to a Rockies game was exciting. Baseball is fun, but football is more my style. Perhaps next ... read more

We made it back safely on Saturday, August 16 around 4: 15pm. What a trip! It's crazy to think about how wheels can take you clear across the country and back in a matter of days. Rewind to a few days ago…… we were staying at the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas. If I had to do it over again, I would have got us a cheaper place on Fremont St in old downtown Vegas. Everything was just too expensive at the Mandalay; food, shopping, gambling, etc. This being said, we did enjoy the luxuries of our hotel. The rooms were very nice and had good views and the free in-house entertainment kept us busy in our down time. The first night we went downstairs and enjoyed a Beatles cover band that we all thought ... read more

Geo: 39.74, -104.992We left the hotel this morning at 8:40 and 57 degrees. We dressed in genes, expecting it to be a bit chilly on top of Rocky Mountain National Park. But half way through the day I changed back to my shorts. It was comfortable. Today we experienced changes in elevation from 5,000 ft. to 11,300 ft. and temperatures from 57 degrees to 91. Starting the day, we struggled a bit with Mrs. GPS. She wanted to take us to the wrong side of the park, so we had to get creative. But we found our way, with little help from her, to the west side of the park and worked our way across to the east side. This was Steve's birthday, and this is Steve's favorite park. So, by coincidence, it was perfect timing. ... read more

Last day.... Mixed emotions for sure. We got up to the alarm this a.m., got cleaned up and dressed and went down to breakfast. Today we had an omelette with our continental breakfast. We went back to our room, unplugged our electronics and closed up our bags. Check out went smooth and Jim used his remaining Euros toward the hotel folio balance. We really loved the Hotel Urban and room 433. The doorman flagged a taxi for us for the ride to the airport. Today the bellman from Bulgaria was not on duty. He was so nice. On our first day he was helping to get our bags into the hotel and commented to Jim as he was trying to assist "I have been trained to do this", how cute is that. Ride to the airport ... read more

I've spent most of the last three days driving around the edge of Colorado. Basically from Pueblo to Denver the hard way. Yesterdays drive was just amazing, as you could see yesterday, it left me speechless. The part of the drive between Silverton and Ouray was listed by USA Today as one of the 10 Bucket list drives everyone should take. In fact, if your not careful it could be the last drive on your list. It's a steep uphill drive with lots of tight curves and not a lot of guardrails. It's one of those Roads you see on TV or in cartoons where one side of the road is a mountain that goes straight up and the other side goes straight down and there's no guardrail. Then once you get to the top ... read more

We travel from Taos in New Mexico to Colorado as we are near the time when we meet up with Pete (Caroline’s Step Father) who we will travel with from Denver to Salt Lake City. We have arranged to do this part of our Road Trip by hiring a RV. As it’s the Saturday before Easter the traffic out of Taos is pretty heavy but thins out after a while. As we enter Southern Colorado we are impressed by the landscape. In the distance are mountains covered in snow. The towns and villages seem to have a lot of charm and history – more like the Wild West as we imagine it. The ranches are pretty large with more cattle here then we saw in Texas. There are more wild horses here too. We see what ... read more
