We are now just two days out from beginning our Guatemalan adventure! We have spent the last six weeks in Aurora, Colorado with Kevin and Jaime (Drew’s sister and brother-in-law) and their daughter, Gwyneth. It has been great to spend time with some of our best friends. It’s an added bonus that we’re relatives. To those who haven’t yet heard, we are also part of a new family—our church family at Aurora Alliance Church. After praying about it and spending time with Jonas and Beth and many of the folks from the church, we have decided to make it our church home and Drew’s place of employment once we return from Guatemala. We will come back from Guatemala in the middle of January, and Drew will start working at the church as the worship pastor. ... read more

Every summer there are a lot of festivals and events in downtown Denver. During this summer before traveling, I had an opportunity to enjoy one, the Cherry Blossom Festival. This is in Sakura Square, kind of a Japanese block. The event of course is a Japanese cultural festival. Overall, I was able to see some really interesting things. The festival actually took place partially inside a Buddhist Temple, which allowed for further exploration. As all festivals, this one had food, drinks and numerous things to buy. Being a Japanese festival, there of course was sushi for sale, but they also had green tea ice cream. This seemed to be pretty popular, and unfortunately I forget to try some. Besides that, numerous crafts, culture books, toy swords and of course, anime for sale. In fact, you ... read more

Made it to the foothills of the Rockies last night just in time to see the sun set behind the mountains. Gorgeous! Pulled into camp, got situated and crashed out promptly. Woke up and went for a run (note: dehyrdration comes on more quickly in higher elevations. Oops.) On our way through Colorado to Utah. Iced coffee is first on the agenda for this leg of the journey.... read more

Motorhome News from North America 45 29th June 2007 Home at last. Immense shocks awaited our return to England with the realisation that our memories of this land had not faded nor our worst fears abated with time. Traffic swarmed the M25 from Heathrow, aggressive and impatient, travelling at high speeds we were unaccustomed to, too many people, hurrying, scurrying, in too small a space, all bound with the frustration of congestion and too few hours in each day for both work and play. Out on the fringes of London’s arteries, traffic slowed a knot or two, the roads narrowed perceptibly and the lush green of England’s new summer filled the air with its own brand of beauty: of broad-leaf trees, voluptuous hedges bounding tiny fields, small compact towns and villages, houses of brick and tile, ... read more

If I haven't talked with you in awhile, HELLO!!!! The kids are doing well; Holly put in an application at the Subway by our house - wouldn't that be sweet if she followed in Bryce's footsteps?!? She's taking a couple classes this summer to get caught up before her senior year starts. So far, so good...I think. :) Duncan is playing baseball this summer and it's turned a bit scandalous. The league decided to merge the 13, 14 and 15 year olds with the 16, 17, and 18 year olds. The first game was this past Tuesday and it was brutal. Literally. Our first kid went up to bat and the pitcher nailed him in the face - off to the hospital he went. Duncan got up to bat the first time and the pitcher ... read more

Mojito Madness North America » United States » Colorado » Denver By GlamazonJune 24th 2007Paris BoundWell, hello! I suppose that, technically, happy hour is not a travel-related activity per se; but we did travel to get to the bar (Earl's) on the 16th Street Mall last night to get our mojito on with our dear friends Don, Steph, and Sally. When you bring a camera to happy hour, pretty much everything is funny:) And I realize, by the way, that these pix will only be funny to us... xoxo S... read more

We woke up at about 8:30 and got ready to go see the Colorado Rockies play the New York Yankees. I had not seen my friend Todd Helton since I lived in California, so I was really excited! It was also my first time seeing the Yankees play and I was even more excited that I had brought my Boston hat along for the trip! We got to Denver at about 10:30 and parked the car at the field and lined up to enter Coors Field for batting practice. The doors opened at 11 and we headed in to go see Todd. We went down to the first base line and hung out with all of the rest of the autograph seekers for an hour and a half in the 95 degree weather… SO HOT. ... read more

Happy Father's Day! North America » United States » Colorado » Denver By GlamazonJune 17th 2007Paris Bound Greetings! So, I took a trip down to Palmer Lake to visit my dad yesterday. Once I got off I-25 onto a nice, quiet back road, it was bliss. It was great to see all the colts romping around so of course I couldn't resist pulling over for a quick visit:) We had a bite to eat at a groovy little restaurant in town (The B&E). A bunch of his paintings are on display there; he's quite the local celebrity! After lunch we took a stroll around the lake then h... read more

Starting point Nathan D. Bryant Hello family, friends, collogues and others who are interested in my travels. I thought I would make this first entry to provide some background info. For the past 4 years I have taught social studies in Denver Colorado, or since I have graduated college. Much before this time though, I have had a dream of traveling and seeing the world. However, I did not want to simply travel to a place, see the usual tourist spots, then go back home. What I have wanted was a chance to be involved with the culture, come to understand how different parts of the world work and be able to really enjoy what the world has to offer. Very recently, I have just accepted an offer to teach history overseas, in Dubai UAE. Some ... read more
