We all got a good night sleep last night! Todd was feeling a little better in the morning and neither of the boys were up in the middle of the night. It may have helped that we had our own room in the suite and just didn't hear them. This was our first full day in Denver and we intentionally left it unplanned, but knew there were lots of options. We decided on the Denver Museum of Nature and Science since they had dinosaurs and an exhibit on Egyptian Mummies. Paul has been reading a story book on this trip about a mummy so he was looking forward to learning more about them. It was about 11:00 when we got into the museum. There were many more things that interested us once we were there. We ... read more

Today I decided to try one of the hikes above Red Rocks Amphitheater on Denver's West side, and take some photos while I was up there. It was a fairly clear day, and probably around 65 degrees and breezy at the top, but the breeze on the way up helped me cool off from the steep hike. I don't think I would recommend this hike simply due to how steep it is, and how often there are lots of small loose rocks on the trail. The way up wasn't too bad other than just steep. On the way down though, you had to be careful each step as those loose stones would give out from under your feet all the time. Good views on the way up and at the top though.... read more

'Reise Fieber'... sitting on DIA listening to Rolling Stones.... in about an hour the journey begins. The backpack, although nice and fancy is way too heavy (~70lb)... and there is really no room for reducing the weight ;/ I either get used to it or simply drop some of it on the way. Problem is my survival kit for 3 mths.... I belive I'll be gaining necessary wisdom along with the inevitable experiences : ... read more

Today we went to the Cave of the Winds and the Celestial Seasonings Plant. The Cave of the Winds was very interesting and informative. When we first arrived, we thought we were going to have to put up with a giant group of kids during our tour. Thankfully, the school kids went on their own tour and we went on a tour afterwards. The tour of the cave was really awesome - seeing all the formations was so amazing, and seeing how people originally entered the cave was a little scary - I'm glad its all paved and staired now :P One of the most interesting parts of the tour is hearing about the lore and legends of the cave. One story in particular stood out: There is a section close to the end of the ... read more

We left Durango after three nice days and went further east to reach our final destination Denver. The distances are still pretty big in Colorado and we did not fancy a 7 hour drive. We looked at the map and found a National Park called Sand Dunes. It was only 3-4 hours and a slight detour. We passed on the way the Rio Grande and crossed the water shed from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The Sand Dunes National Park turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It has the tallest dunes of North America and nice views of sand ridges in front of snow covered mountains. The dunes are formed by a combination of east -west winds and a river between the dunes and the mountain range. The sand is blown by an east wind ... read more

Back to travelling within the USA, and this time we went to Denver. Daddy has a bunch of really good friends there. We stayed at Matt and Chantell's house, 2 friends he met while being a waiter at a restaurant in Santa Barbara. They have been very good friends ever since, and have travelled together in Brazil and Thailand. They have 2 beautiful children, Veda and Riley, who are about my age. We had soooo much fun playing in their house. We went dowtown the second day, and ate at a restaurant which just so happened to have a bunch of Irish/Scottish dancers with their bagpipes parading through and around the restaurant. I also saw a HUGE blue bear dowtown. That night, we had a party at their house with other friends of my daddy's, Marc ... read more

The Lama Pema/Tibetan Braille story will have to wait a little bit. I'm flying home from Denver and I'll be at CTEVH in San Francisco over the weekend. The RAFFLE: Tara C is the first person to name the author, novel and quote of "Only connect.." Congratulations Tara C. Five others have answered 1 or 2 Qs so far. It's early, and you've jumped ahead of the pack. Look for more questions on Monday. ALL of March's questions will be deleted on the last day of the month, when some new Qs will appear. Denver was pretty cool. I liked being in the city. Especially in the winterish time. The mountains are really pretty. We actually ate at Joe's Crabshack while we were there. I know it's a chain restaurant, but it was still good. If you are going to Colorado, I'd definitely just stop by Denver and go around downtown. You'll always find something to do.... read more

Dallas - Keepin it Pretentious We just got done staying 3 nights and 2 days in Dallas with our friend Molly (the hostess with the mostest) and learned a few new things, but mostly that Dallas is the place to be for cougar hunting. We started the trip off right by staying in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Richardson (just outside of Dallas). We woke up to the sound of loud-pitched screaming, the kind that would only come from a kid in a Wal-Mart. I think that is a very appropriate way to wake up if your in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The car proved to be very comfy, but cramped, especially for Matt. He had a few kinks in his neck the next day for me to work out (im such a great girlfriend) We ... read more
