Ladies and gents, I made it to greener and slightly warmer pastures. As we left Utah we did not head directly west, as so often suggested, through the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape towards Colorado. Too easy, too boring, too nice. We took the hardcore way out. The hardcore way means crossing one of the emptiest, windiest and generally most hostile places I ever came across: The cowboy renegad... Read Full Entry

Cowboys and recreation shops!
You once said you wanted to see our wide-open spaces, so hey, you went to the right places, and on the plains going home, you'll find lots more. Congrats! Glad you made it through the snow and cowboys and found a fine reward in Denver. And good to know that "Freedom tastes like guacamole--who'd have guessed?

Cheyenne
In 1995 we leave and worked in Cheyenne for 3 months. We were living in a garden apartment and when we woke up on Sept. 20 we could not see out the windows. Sorry you didn't get to experience a white out. The northern part of the state is much prettier. Wyoming has lots of hot springs. Too bad you didn't have time to stop and soak. You've really seen a lot of beautiful country. Will be interested to read a summary blog at the end of your time in the U.S. to see what your final impressions are. Hopefully, you'll get back to the warm and sunny Houston sooner than later.
