Bad start with phone alarms going off at 6am (NYC time and forgot to change timezone !!)
I did the breaky run as everyone was really feeling tired after all the action so far (was it 4 of 5 trips I had to make downstairs?) Cereal, Bananas, Muffins, OJ & AJ, Hot Chocolate, Toast & Marmalade, Milk, Yoghurts.
Being 4th July we had sourced an outlet shopping sale at Castle Rock about 40km south of Denver on the way to Colorado Springs. The road we travelled on was the Interstate # 25 and the weather today was a lot clearer and we could actually just see the Rocky Mountains although there was little snow on the peaks after the heat wave conditions the USA has had for the last 2 weeks.
We arrived in Castle Rock around midday and first shop we hit was Sketchers where Kerry and Elise would buy 3 pairs of shoes in total for less than $100- (you can’t get one pair back home for that price !). Luke went to a sports shop and got two NBA T-Shirts for $10- (one with Andrew Bogut from Milwaukee Bucks). Levi’s was next where the main
shopper was Elise although I also finally got my Levi Cowboy Buckle Belt. Next we went to Subway for lunch and used the VIP card we sourced for a 10% discount. This VIP card would end up saving us quite a lot and was free to get.
Next was Adidas where I found the bargains with golf shirt for $12-, golf shorts for $35- and a Rain Jacket for only $12-.
Apostale was next, then Bass where the girls go some good stuff and Elise make a checkout purchase of some Jewellery and saved a fortune.
Weather had got smokey again with wildfire burning nearby. It was still hot at around 35 degrees but a dry heat with warm breeze. If you got in the shade it felt about 10 degrees cooler.
We had so much gear we had bought I decided to drop the goodies in the car ith Luke so we were free to carry more bag but I had some drama trying to find the Chevy Traverse in the Car Park. After walking up and own 2-3 rows Luke realised we were in the wrong section ! Thank god as I was starting
to think someone had pinched the car and then what would we do ??
Pet Shop to buy Muffin a toy handbag, Candy Store, Colorado Shop for my Licence Plate, and finally Nike which was good for Luke but not much for me as I could not find a pair of shoes I liked.
Being 4th July not easy to find a restaurant for dinner so we drove and drove around the CBD looking for somewhere and eventually managed to find a bakery called Panera Bread hat was open which did some really good cheese and broccoli soup in a cobb loaf.
Well we will pack again in the morning and Suitcase # 5 will surface to help with all the new goodies. We start our Wild West Road Trip which Kerry got the idea from a Trafalgar Tour some years ago which will see us travel across 7 states over the next 8 days and cover around 2,400 km and 28 hours of driving.
Should be a new experience and lots of fun.
