Day 5 Co Springs 002
Yum Bacon! The neighbors were jealous! Today was a fun day! We started it with bacon, eggs, and grilled cheese cooked on the grill. That is Mike's contribution to the dinner plan. We used up the rest of the bacon with BLTs for lunch. Tonight is Chicken Parmeasean. After breakfast we headed out on our travels and Maggie got to stay in the rig for a nap. Our first stop of the morning was the AF Academy Cadet Chapel, what an amazing building and a beautiful icon for the academy. Then it was on to Pikes Peak...snow capped pikes peak! Mi Hyon loved the sights from 14110 feet, it was snowing on one side of the mountain and sunny on the other. Pictures just don't do justice to the vistas from the top. We were lucky to be up there since they just finished plowing 3-5 feet of snow. Last time I went up there it was mid summer and the snow makes a big difference. The temps were a bit different as well, it was 81 when we left the rig and 42 at the top, of course we were dressed for 81 ;-) One other item of note, there is not much oxygen at 14000

The pic just doesn't do justice to the vista ft and I ran up a slope to snap a picture for an Indian family, they appreciated the help and I suddenly appreciated the value of AIR. On the way back we stopped at an ancient Indian Cliff Dwelling, it was a combination tourist trap and historic sight, but leaned more to being a tourist trap. Anyway we planned to go to an Indian ruins and we got that block checked. Once we got home there was a run to the BX and some minor maintenance on the rig.
Forgot to menton the trains, they run down the hill from our RV and have amazingly loud air horns...the conductor made liberal use of them, 5 good honks every couple of hours, all night long... makes for interesting sleeping conditions. I slept fairly well but MiHyon; not so much.
I thought tomorrow was going to be a short day, but it's another 420 miles to Moab and Arches NP. It won't be too bad, Mi Hyon will help w/ some of the driving. Should be some great pictures tomorrow ;-)
