The Valley of Happyness. Known greater widely because the Male Valley (or Vail Valley). Some who stay down valley refer to it as Eagle Valley. Starting at the threshold of East Vail wherein Vail Pass descends and persevering with into Eagle-Vail, Avon, Edwards, Gypsum, and Eagle. The Valley of Happyness. Wonderful winters. Beautiful summers. No offense. Not ill. Not one "horrific" community. No minorities. Absent culture. Like something out of a e-book; in a dream, perhaps. Everybody is stunning." The Valley of Happyness. Once, a near pal said, "This location pierces your soul." This location pierces the soul of anyone, in a single way or another, for higher or unwell. The Valley of Happyness. My house between September 2010 and April 2011. A file 524" of snow have been stated in Vail! Being a ski bum ... read more

Today was going to be a big day. We were driving from Kanab, Utah to Avon, Colorado. It was a 9 hour drive but we had several stops we wanted to make. Plus we are older…. We have to get out of the car and stretch our legs, give our backs a break , and go potty!! I just can’t get over how beautiful the scenery is in this country!! Landforms change around nearly bend. First stop Glen’s Canyon bridge and reservoir. The water level was low and the bridge reminded us of a small New River Gorge Bridge. Certainly glad we stopped. Next stop was the Navajo visitor Center at Monument Valley. They had some of the cleanest public restrooms we’ve seen on this trip. I loved the way their picnic tables were decorated. The ... read more

Last February, back in 2020, right before all the Covid-19 madness really hit the U.S. and life and travel changed so much for everybody. Tom and I are both avid skiers. I’m Denver born and raised, and grew up skiing in Winter Park and Eldora, Colorado. Tom’s from the East Coast, and is not quite as advanced as I am, but still a very good skier. Tom skied with his folks mostly in Vermont at sugar Bush and Stove. Tom and I had been together for nearly 6 months at that point, and we had talked about taking a little ski trip, but work commitments and other affairs simply kept us too busy. So, while we were out enjoying some sushi at our favorite local spot, the conversation had once again turned to skiing and how ... read more

Geo: 39.6314, -106.522A second night in Aspen led me to the Aspen Brewery. The entryway smelled like something you don't want to touch that has also been sitting in the sun too long. I hoped for better fares up the stairs. A small but welcoming area and rather busy for a Sunday night. The red was delicious! The blonde was amazing! (bartender, that is... wonder if I can get that to go?) Sorry. Horrible. By a quarter till 10 she was encouraging and nearly prodding the patrons to finish their beers and leave so that she could go home. A few decided that they would help close up shop and close the patio door: a rustic, accordion door, looking as if it were built in the 40s, spanning about 12 feet. How many drunks does it take ... read more

Geo: 39.6314, -106.522The Happy Valley. More commonly known as the Vail Valley (or Male Valley). Known to some down-valleyers as Eagle Valley. Beginning as Vail Pass drops into the far reaches of East Vail, and extending through Eagle-Vail, Avon, Edwards, Gypsum, and Eagle. The Happy Valley. Fantastic winters. Gorgeous summers. No crime. No sickness. No "bad" neighborhoods. No minorities. No culture. "Like something from a novel; somewhere in a dream. Everyone is beautiful."The Happy Valley. A good friend once stated: "this place pierces your soul". In some way or another, for better or for worse, for every person, this place pierces their soul. The Happy Valley. Here are some pictures from our first full day. Today was a full day. We went to an art fair in the morning - by accident, we were going for a walk by the lake near our lodge. The quality of the art was out of this world. They also had wine tasting, which we thoroughly enjoyed on a Sunday morning. We must have, we ordered a case of Austrian wine to be shipped to our home. We had a simple lunch and got on our Jeep tour. Wolf was the name of the driver, he moved from Austria (huh) in 1962 to Toronto originally, then on to Whistler BC. He was there just a year before coming to this area. He was a most interesting tour guide. He knew every kind of plant there was, ... read more
