I'm On The Drug That Killed River Phoenix..... .......but more on that later! Sorry to all for the lack of updates, It has been crazy busy around here the last few days, so let me fill you in. Like i mentioned in the last update, we arrived on the 3rd and from there.....pretty much fell straight to sleep. Being on the go for upwards of 24 hours, sitting in one spot, really takes it out of you. I dunno how I let myself forget that every time i travel. But, moving on, sporting nothing more than a numb arse, on the 4th we checked out Vans, making a few appointments to see some for sale. The first one apparently didn't exist, he told us he was at #600, but the street numbers went 599, 601, 603...etc ... read more

I then went from Vancouver directly to Seattle where I have some friends. I stayed at their place for almost a week. We explored the Seattle Space Needle, went to the EMP the Experience Music Project from Woody Allen (Best Museum I've ever been to). We saw the Flying Fish on the market and I even went to a Baseball Game, The Seattle Mariners against Baltimore Orioles. It was the game when Raffael Palmero had his 3000th Hit. They told me that was something special and I belived it... Very impressive was also the visit of the very active volcano Mt. St. Helens south of Seattle. After one week in the State of Washington I went to Portland, Oragon to visit a friend of Petra. He showed me around Portland, we did some hiking and went ... read more

today we had the chance to sleep in a bit. in the morning, we grabbed a coffee with lisa and james at city lights, a really nice coffee house that katrine used to hang at with lisa... chatted and enjoyed the market and a really good coffee - something that we learnt to appreciate on the road... brown water that tasted burnt (yummai), need i say more? in the afternoon, we met up with sean and headed into japan town in san jose to a japanese festival, which is apparently the largest in the state. afterwhich we headed to meet james and his friend eric for a bbq. eric even had boca (vegetarian) burgers for us which were super yummai. and not only did we have happy bellies but both of us fell in love with ... read more

Everything is pulled together. Paul, my son called from Berlin very early this AM wondering if we'd left for London and informed me there had been a t. bombing in Central London! I've gotten this far, so how can I let this incident stop us? Today, I set about copying documents I've been collecting over the years. Our time in Paris and french countryside seems almost Da Vinci code-ish! Before we trek into the french countryside to explore an ancestoral village/s and possibly see if there is a shrine been built for a recently canonized family member (Augustus Schoeffler) I want to track down two paintings supposedly housed in an obscure museum in Paris of Augustus S-- "The Seminary Museum." There's even a Society involved....."Society Of Foreign Missions of Paris." We'll see.... (at least we aren't ... read more

Around this area of Los Angeles it's common knowledge that if your out on your own any later than 10pm at night you might as well stick a sign on your back that says mug me. As it turns out the USC campus is located just on the fringe of that infamous criminal hotspot; South central L.A. Also home to the neighborhood of Compton, an area well known for its magical ability to boost the street cred of any hard core gangsta rapper. Now I must admit I've been warned a number of times about going out on my own at night, mostly by individuals who heard from a friend of a friend that they knew a guy who had a sister who's best friend's cousin got jumped while they were walking home from class one ... read more

we arrived in Truth or Consequences or TORC, as the locals call it, at 3 in the morning.... and were met by a sweet hippie lady and her dog bruno. we crashed and woke to the heat, as per usual. we spent the morning lounging in mineral baths and went swimming in the rio grande... it was amazing! the afternoon we seemed to linger, unable to get out of TORC... first it was the yummy smoothies and then it was a cool thrift store called the Old Rose... and then about an hour in a health food store with an old lady who apparently loves us.... eventually we got out of there and headed through the hill country. we arrived in arizona at our campsite quite late... we wanted to stay there because it is in ... read more

Today I bid farewell to my family, friends and co-workers...I will miss you all! I am finally and utterly unemployed. Plus I am homeless. From now on it's just me, my passport, and the ATM card. It's all a part of my poverty immersion therapy to detox me from the business school indoctrination. It's a spiritual quest of sorts. From now on it's prophets, not profits that I follow (at least until September when school resumes). So, why does it always comes down to the night before the trip, and I am up with chores to do. I guess this is why people are shocked that I am working up to the day before I leave. Well, I say sleep is for the weak. Booyah! First off, sorry to the neighbors who might be disturbed by ... read more

Just minutes from our home in Cool, in the heart of the gold country, the Auburn State Recreation Area (Auburn SRA) covers over 35,000 acres along 40-miles of the North and Middle Forks of the American River. Once teeming with thousands of gold miners, the area is now a natural area offering a wide variety of recreation opportunities to over 500,000 visitors a year. Major recreational uses include hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, camping, mountain biking, gold panning, equestrian riding trails and off-highway motorcycle riding. Whitewater recreation is also very popular on both forks of the river. Auburn SRA is made up of the lands set aside for the Auburn Dam. California State Parks administers the area under a contract with the US Bureau of Reclamation. ... read more

Only three days 'til we leave! Seems like we should be frantic by now but since I'm attempting to keep my personal belonging to around 25lbs, it's more about editing. -Quick dry light weight clothes -2 pairs of shoes, including the ones I'm wearing Voila! Portrait: Yes, that's a "fridge" I'm posed with along w/my carry-on! I was inspired by the comedian/author Tony Hawks' book "Round Ireland With A Fridge." No one has wagged a bet with me, but like Hawks, I'm carrying an "odd load" which will surely be a source of many adventures! ... read more
