Mia
Mia settling herself in for a long drive south. With this fabulous new schedule that I have, we decided to take advantage of the very first 4 day weekend to make a quick trip down to Cali and get out of town. The alarm went off at 7am and I hit the snooze button without thinking so we were a little slow getting out the door. By 9am the Escape was loaded up and we were on the road. It was pouring down rain as we headed south but I had hopes that it would get better the farther we got. Jose drove the first part of the journey so we stopped to eat lunch in Weed and change positions. We had lunch at the Pizza Factory, right where highway 97 comes into town at the first traffic light. They advertised salad, pizza and pasta so I figured I could make everyone happy. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't fabulous either, filled us up though and we were back on the road. The rain just would not stop coming down though. I was holding it for awhile hoping that it would let up but I gave out before it did. We pulled into a rest area where everyone was
sitting in their cars waiting for the rain to let up and I jump out in my flats and splash! right into a huge lake in the parklot, sprint to the bathroom with my jacket over my head then dash back to the car soaking wet. We drive five minutes down the road while I attempt to drive off and guess what? The rain completely stops! Argh...
We wondered far off I-5 in Redding in my attempt to save money and find the cheapest gas station, $2.17 a gallon and US Mart and I get to get out and pump my own gas too, lol. Then it was off on the last leg of the journey. We were following my MapQuest directions instead of Google Maps because it cut about 50 miles off our journey, now I understand why! We exited on CA Hwy 20 and twisted back and forth over the mountainous hillsides and passed Clear Lake before finally arriving on Hwy 101 N. We stopped to fuel up again in an effort to make a fast start in the morning. Dinner consisted of stopping at the Windsor Burger King where they succeeded in messing up our order
and shorting me my food. No way was I going to turn around and go back for a BK Big Fish sandwich. The manager said he'd remove the charge on my credit card since he couldn't do a partial refund, we'll see how that turns out.
This is the first time that I've used our timeshare and booked a vacation for us and we are not disappointed. We are staying at the Worldmark in Windsor and it is absolutely gorgeous. We reserved a one bedroom unit and it has a king size bed in the bedroom, a living room with a queen size Murphy bed (drops down out of the wall) a full kitchen and a gas fireplace. Each set of buildings has a jacuzzi right behind it so that was our first stop after eating. The rain was still coming down a little but the girls didn't seem to mind it. There were no lights so the girls splashed around while I hoped the management didn't sneak over and hit us out for having Mia in the jacuzzi (no children under 6 allowed). The water wasn't as hot as their baths so I wasn't worried if that is
their concern. Afterwards they were off to take a real bath and we relaxed in the room and recovered from the long drive. Tomorrow it's off to San Francisco and hope the rain lets up.
