Well, here we are, living in California for a little over one week now. So far, things are going very well, especially after a new boiler was installed in our building and we don’t have to walk over to the next building to shower. So now the time is ripe to set out, have a look around and explore our surroundings. We took off without much of a plan except that we were in hopes of a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Much to our surprise our drive was only about 8 miles. We really didn’t realize we lived quite that close to the bridge. The morning was a bit cloudy so many of our photos are only so- so. In the afternoon the sun peaked it’s head out for about 45 minutes. ... read more

Merry Christmas Everyone! I spent most of the day finishing up my personal statement. Lame, I know. But it is all nice and shiny now. I leave in 10 hours. all I have to say is this: Man, do I have some friends. I love you all very much, thank you for helping me and being here to say goodbye. I talked to Sukhmani and Ash today... It's not very often that you get to say "See You In INDIA!" That's all. Goodbye America :)... read more

Hello there! Soooo I have 8 days left until I embark on my 6 month long trip to India, Nepal, and Tibet. I’ve never left the country for longer than 3 weeks, and I’ve never traveled completely alone before. What to take what to do who to see… things are definitely starting to blur together in my short amount of time left here. I must get several more vaccines before I leave. I still need to pack and , umm, learn Hindi? The 18 bajillion books I am supposed to read are still sitting on my desk, I think I’ll manage to finish 7 years in Tibet before I leave. I’ve been planning this trip for 9 months and I’ve wanted to go to India forever. The Himalayas have been distinctively calling to me since sometime ... read more

It is hard to imagine that we are about to embark on our 11th world cruise. It seems like we just finished our first one and were thinking that would be the one and only time that we would go around the world on a ship. This cruising life seems to agree with us and we are truly looking forward to this next circumnavigation which will begin in Ft Lauderdale on Dec 27 and end in Southampton, UK on Jun 7, 2011. It is the longest world cruise yet at 162 days—almost half a year. It is somewhat daunting but the call of the sea is strong and the anticipation of adventure is very alluring. We finished the last world cruise on May 12th in Ft Lauderdale. We enjoyed three weeks in Ft Myers getting our ... read more

Our three weeks at home were fast and furious. We disembarked the Mariner on Dec 20, hired a car in Los Angeles and stopped in San Luis Obispo to visit my sister Judy and her family. We celebrated birthdays and Christmas and Judy’s good health and then headed up to Pebble Beach for a crab feast with John and Jeannie. After three and one half months away we walked down the dock to our boat in Sausalito and were greeted by friends bearing gifts of flowers and wine. We had the car unloaded and the boat shipshape within a few hours and we were ready to settle in for the holidays and our brief interlude at home. On Christmas Eve we had a dine-around on the marinas’ three Krogen Manatees. Charlie and Pat lined the docks ... read more
