SEABOURN SOJOURN
Launched in 2010, she carries 458 passengers in all-suite accommodations. After having spent a lovely spring and early summer in Florida enjoying our new home, we drove up to North Carolina to visit cruising friends near Asheville and attend a family reunion at Lake Norman with Mike and Susan LaGraff. We also visited Kingsland, GA where we eloped in 1973 and St Simons Island, where we first lived as newlyweds. Right after Labor Day we left Rotonda under the shadow of a mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Irma. For two days Irma had Rotonda in her sights but fortunately with less than an hour to spare, she took a turn to the northeast and bypassed our home on the Cape Haze Peninsula. Our area survived virtually unscathed unlike much of the rest of Florida and the Caribbean.
We flew to the west coast and settled onto our boat
Mana in Sausalito for a month. We had some lovely weather and enjoyed cruising the Bay, going to baseball games, getting together with friends and meeting up with family in San Luis Obispo for an Atkins reunion and a memorial for my sister, Judy. Steve flew up from New Zealand, Annette and Tom came in from the Midwest and Roberta and Bruce
HAWAII PACIFIC SOJOURN
A 32 day island dream. from Arizona. Julie surprised us by coming in from Vail. So all of Judy's children were there also.
As we were preparing to depart for our cruise, Northern California was hit by severe and deadly wildfires in the fabled wine regions of Napa and Sonoma. The devastation to homes, businesses and vineyards is unbelievable. The air quality in the San Francisco Bay area was the worst in recorded history during the fires.
It was now time to get on a ship. We packed up and took a rental car out of the smoky haze of Sausalito to Los Angeles and visited our friends, Mike and Sherry. It is always so much fun to reminisce about the world cruising we have done together and the wonderful experiences we have shared at sea.
The next day we embarked on the Seabourn Sojourn at the Port of Los Angeles for a 32-day voyage to the exotic islands of the Pacific. We are visiting 12 islands and will enjoy 18 sea days on this lovely vessel. Our first port is in the Marquesas Islands, made famous by the adventures of Thor Heyerdahl and the paintings of Paul Gauguin. Following on to
OUR POOL IN ROTONDA
Hurricane Irma destroyed just one screen, fortunately. the Tuamotu Islands and then the Society Islands of French Polynesia. As we turn north we call at Fanning Island near the equator and then on to five of the Hawaiian Islands before heading east to Los Angeles, arriving in mid-November. All in all, a wonderful voyage to some of the most beautiful islands and gorgeous waters in the world.

So glad I saw you on Mana...
... even if it was briefly. It was special for my sister to meet you, and you, her. Let me know when you're coming back... I'll plan better. :)) Wonderful the family time you had; my condolences for Judy... Your cruise sounds absolutely lovely! Looking forward to hearing more of your travels. I will picture you on top of some boat, watching the sunsets. :))
