Good Friday (The Master’s College) Friday~~Tour Day. This morning we left at 6am (that’s in the morning. Our lifestyle doesn’t mess around with 6am very often!) to go on what turned out to be the best tour we’ve ever been on. We traveled for a little over an hour to go to place that passes out food to people who then distribute it to the needy. We circled for prayer before we left the campus (we always do before we leave as a group) and got to the distribution point in time for a little introduction, and then their prayer time, which included the loaders (all volunteer) and the receivers (those picking up food.) There were probably 40 cars lined up waiting for whatever food they could get….we passed out assorted crackers, cookies, cereal, from the ... read more

(The Master’s College) Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We've been without internet for the past week (the college kids were on spring break, so they took that time to work on the computer system.....talk about suffering!) But anyway, I'll get some entries on as quickly as I can. Saturday we went with Wayne and Lois to Solvang; a village about two hours from here. It is a Dutch town settled by a group of people from Pennsylvania, whose goal was to keep their heritage alive. The buildings are of that style, as well as the clothing in the stores, and the food and pastries~~oh, let’s talk about the Danish pastries! And you could buy wooden shoes of any type. We also toured an old Spanish Mission. I’ll include some details along with the pictures. It was a ... read more

(The Master’s College) Wednesday we (all of us) went to a piano recital by two of the college students. They said they need to practice performing, and it’s much easier to do that with an audience, so they invited the RVICS. They played very well, and then they visited with us about their programs, plans and practice. They also told us about the Steinway piano they were playing on: it was the piano used by the composer of the melody for the Lord’s Prayer. The composer sat in an arm chair, laid a board across the handles of his chair (that’s here too) and would play some and then write down what he’d played. His family donated it to The Master’s College, but at that time it was painted green. They also donated money to help ... read more
Isn't this a cute car?
Some of the cars had a mirror on either side,
I can see that these doors may not be practical.

(The Master’s College) This blogging thing isn’t going so well now that the temperature is above 80 every day! The trees are blooming, the grass smells good, and the sun is shining. Our days are filled, and the projects are going very well, but sit-down-time-inside just isn’t happening! The men have finished all three houses (we keep telling them they do much better at painting than we do, and we’re going to recommend them for all the painting jobs!) Today they started work on an administration building. I worked in the Biblical Counseling office all of last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This week I’m typing at the library from 8:30 until 10, and then Lois and I go over to the music department and file music until 11:30. The sheet music from the fall ... read more

(The Master's College) Happy Birthday to my dear grandma! The Master’s College is north of LA, and I will tell you more about that later. The important thing is that we have cell service AND internet! And a new couple on our team: Kyle and Carolyn are from Illinois. Being back at a college is exciting. We’re on the north campus, and it's mostly music majors and biblical counseling. I walked along the outside of the classroom building behind us, there was music coming from every room! There are senior recitals scheduled almost every night we’re here~~also, several musical groups coming in. Our project director brought around a sheet of classes that we could sit in on, and many of them looked very interesting, but with us only being here for a short time, I don’t ... read more

(Oak Glen CCC = The Master’s College) We finished work Tuesday, and Wednesday we all took a tour through the Fleetwood (RV) factory. It was interesting to see how the rvs are made, and was personalized because one of the people on our tour (but not an RVICS person) was having his unit built, and he got to look through it as it went down the assembly line, and was able to visit with the manager of each checkpoint. None of us ordered new RVs, but it wasn’t because we weren’t tempted! Thursday we all planned on leaving about 10…but that was before Satan started working on us. At 10:00 Wayne was still working with his brakes, to make sure that the new master cylinder was working properly, and he wasn’t yet confident; Peter couldn’t ... read more
