The van is like a woman--full of secrets. lots to discover and only gives you a ride when she's ready. Or maybe I simply haven't discovered all her secrets. Let's make that maybe a definitive. Just know I was calling AAA from the parking lot of the Hollister Kmart because she wouldn't start. Only a clicking from the dash and a high pitched alarm that would die down slowly. there were tears. Then, magically, she turned over, ahhhh.

It was a pleasant ride otherwise through Monterey County and small towns like Tres Pinos along the 25 going south. Now I'm camping for my first night at Pinnacle National Monument, the sun is setting, the 100 degree temperature cooling nicely. I'm not sure at all what i'm making for dinner, but I won't starve!

Tomorrow I will do a morning trail hike to a condor view point in the Pinnacles which is 2 miles round trip. Late morning I will leave and head for Lake Isabella, south part of Sequoia National Park. It appears to be about 5 or 6 hours of driving, but i just want to go in that direction and there's no place else that looks

camp-able inbetween.

some beautiful, large Oaks here, and there must be 20 or so large hawks/condors? in sight, some over the hill above circling and circling. Some in a large pine about 100 feet away.
