This was a disapointing view, however evidently a familar one.
Charlie's Day

I took off for San Francisco about 8 AM in order to miss (?) the morning traffic into the big city. It really was not too bad until about 15 miles out. As I approached the Golden Gate Bridge fog was observed in large amounts. Stopped at the observation point and could not see San Francisco. Well, I had come this far so decided to press onward to Fisherman's Wharf. Parking is a premium, however there is space in the public parking for motorcycles that is free. Four wheeled vehicles get hit with a $3 for 20 min or $30 for all day.

There is a National Park area that includes a walk thru tour of several vintage sailing ships and a maritime museum. While there is a charge, it is free to those with a senior pass. Age does have privileges. I enjoyed walking up and down the Wharf and dined at Jacks Bar, a historic bar in operation since 1932. They have 80 beers on tap . and deal on a cash basis. It seems that many places are eliminating the credit card charges.

I stopped by the vista point on the way out of town as the fog had dissapated. It provided a great view of the city, bridge and Alcatraz. On the way back to Santa Rosa the CHP was trolling for folks in the HOV lane without the required passenger(s). Motorcycles are exempt. However their dilligence in awarding citations to violators caused a backup for about 5 miles. Lane splitting is acceptable here and several instances were observed. This rider did not engage in the activity.

Fog is gone. Now all I have to do is pay my toll on line before the $45 fine is instated.
